George Forester is a pait at the Wilkes Hospital. It. Vaughn Church 1b erecting service station one mile west of Millers Creek on (Highway 421. Mrs. W. S. Fletcher, of Purlsar, has been ill tor a few days and a patient at Davis hospital in Stateevllle since Thursday. Mrs. A. J. Protfit, of the Maple Springs community of Wilkes county, was a visitor here Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Tired Harris and little daughter, Judy, visited Mr. and Mrs. Charleft Moseley at Oakwoods during the week-end. • Mr. R. EJ. Stewart, Sr., went to York, S. C., Saturday to spend a week. He is recovering from a broken leg. Mr. S. A. Church, a well known resident of the Purlear community, has been ill for several days. 'He is a patient at Davis hospital ' in Statesvllle. From Here and There People You Know Who Move About 1 Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Meadows, of Martinsville, Va., visited Mr. | Meadows' father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Meadows, at Pores Knob Sunday. A barn belonging to Mr. Crom Wingler and located in the HayB community burned last week. Two mules and five cattle were destroyed in the fire. Mrs. J. N. Shockey, former resident of this city now a matron at Mills Home Baptist orphanage at Thomasville, has been visiting Miss Etta Turner and other friends and relatives here. Mr. and Mrs. Russell G. Hodges spent the week-end in Charlotte with Mrs. Hodges father, I Mr. J. W. DeLaney, and while in the city attended the musical show, Oklahoma. Friends regret to learn that Rev. Dean Minton is ill. He was ! stricken with pneumonia Saturday night and is now at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Minton, north of this city. Mrs. H. M. Davis, formerly of Detroit, Mich., has enrolled as a student in Clevenger College of Business Administration in Wilkesboro. Her husband, Chief H. M. Davis, is serving in the navy aboard the USS Colonial. Mr. and Mrs. Parks Church and daughter, Martha Neal, are now residing at Purlear after five years residence at Willow Run, Michigan. Mm. Church is the former Miss Marcella Pendley. The many friends of Mr. J. C. Thompson, of the Harley comj munity, are glad to learn that he is recovering following serious illness. Mr. Thompson is probably the oldest resident of the county, having passed his 97th j birthday. Mr. J. Ei. Spainhour went toj day to Mars Hill College to carry i Dr. R. Paul Caudill there to conduct a series of revival services j this week after preaching in a very successful revival at the ' First Baptist church here during | the past week. ' Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Senerius :and son, Gordon, of Toledo, Ohio, have been visiting Mrs. Senerius' mother and sister, Mrs. D. E. jSmoak and Mrs. Ab Vestal, in I Wilkesboro. Mr. Senerius has returned to Toledo and Mrs. Senerius and son remained for a month's visit. Mrs. H. G. Nichols is spending a few days in Charlotte with her daughter^ Mrs. Homer Wellborn, j who is a patient at Charlotte Memorial hospital as the result of injuries in an auto accident February 16. Mrs. Wellborn is recovering but is expected to remain at the hospital for several days. Injuries included a broken wrist and shoulder fracture. Mrs. T. O. Crowell and daughter, Becky, returned from Charlotte Saturday after a week's stay. Becky received treatment at the Mercy Hospital. Staff Sergeant and Mrs. Lihu W. Gudger returned today to RoBwell, New Mexico, where S. Sgt. Gudger is stationed in the army air force, after spending ten days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. L». A. Gudger. They also visited his wife's mother, Mrs. •J. C. Stimson, proprietor of Stimson's studio in North Wilkes>oro, was a winner in the "Popular Photography" photo contest which closed recently and was the largest ever held in camera history.
