'William Barber was bos tees to tbe members of her bridge club at her homeMn Wllkesboro Wednesday evening. Following dinner served at seven o'clock bridge waa played at two tables with the top score prise going to Mrs. Joe Barber. Miss Betsy Bar ber, home for the spring holidays from Woman'B College in Greens boro, assisted her mother in the serving of the dinner. Mrs. Darlington T. E. L. Class Hostess Sixteen members were present for the monthly meeting of the T.E.li. class of the First Baptist church held Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. Mattie Darling ton. Mrs. John Joines, the presi dent, led the devotions, and the prayer waA offered by Mrs. W. F. Jones. For the program a record ing was given of one of Dr. Paul Caudill's sermons, "Hell, and why he did not want to go there." Mrs. Jolnee was in charge of the business session. Refreshments were enjoyed at the close of the meeting. Wilabri Club Met With Mrs. Garwood The members of the Wilabri bridge cluib, and some* extra guests, were delightfully enter tained by Mrs. Albert Garwood at her home in WilkeaboroThurs day evening. Three tables were arranged for the game in a col orful Easter setting, and at thei close of play the hostess served' refreshments. Top soore prize fori club members went to Mrs. Edi-' son Norman, and for the visitors to Mrs. Robert Gambill. Mrs. Tom , Story was the winner in bingo. | Mrs. W. A. Hardfster Entertains At Bridge 1 Two tables of bridge were in ' play Friday afternoon, when Mrs.! W. A. Hardister entertained at her home for the members of the Round Table club. Prizes were awarded to Mrs. W. K. Newton for high score, to Mrs. Fred, Emerson for low score, and Mrs.' Ray Hoover bingo. The dessert course served at the 'beginning' of play, and decorations carried, suggestions of the Easter season, j Mrs. D. L>. Mrs. Watt M. Cooper was grac ious hostess to tlffe members of the Friday Book club at her home op E Street Friday afternoon. Mrs. John T. Wayland, the presi dent, presided while roll call was made by Mrs. C. ES. Jenkins, members responding with inter esting news items. At the close of the afternoon the hostess serv ed tempting refreshments. Clark-Tolbert Vows Solemnized Saturday In a lovely home ceremony, marked by its simplicity, Miss Jamie /Clark, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur S. Clark, of Mil lers Creek, became the bride of Jimmy Jason Tolbert, son of Mr. and Mrs. N. K. Tolbert, also of Millers Creek, on Saturday eve ning, April the second. Rev. A. E. Watts, of Taylorsville, a form er pastor of the ibrlde, officiated using the double ring ceremony. The vows were spoken at eight o'clock 'before an Improvised altar arranged with white candles In seven-branched candelabra, bas kets of white snapdragons, and greenery. Wedding music was provided by Mrs. Fred Clark, pianist, and Mrs. Wake Clark, soloist, who sang "Because" (d'Hardelot), "I Love Thee' (Grieg), and "Through the Years" (Youman). The couple entered together, un attended, to the strains of Lo hengrins bridal chorus, and as they mkde their pledge the pian lst sounded muted notes of "Claire de Lune." For her nuptials the ibrlde wore a navy blue suit, white lace blouse, and a white orchid. Her only ornament was a lavalier worn by her mother on her wed ding day. Immediately . following the ceremony the bride's parents en tertained at an informal recep tion for the bridal party, and wedding guests composed chiefly of family members. The bride and groom, gradu ates of Millers Creek high school are employed In North Wilkes boro. Mrs. Tolbert with the Pen ney's Store, and Mr. Tolbert with the Carolina-Home and Auto Sup ply company. They will make their home at Millers Creek. The Reception For the reception the dining room table, spread with' an Im ported white lace cloth, was cen tered with a three-tiered wedding cake, topped with a miniature bride and groom. White flowers and candle* deoorated the table, and were used elsewhere about the. home-. After the bride and groom cut the first slice of cake, It wai finished by Miss Mary Hes ter Clark, and assisting. with the serving were Misses Shirley and' Kate Clark, all three sisters of( the ibrlde, and Miss Wanda Hayes. Dale Church Has Birthday Party Last Saturday afternoon, Dale Church, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Church, was honored at a party at the home of his parents, cele brating his sixth birthday. Numerous games and contests were enjoyed by the group of children present, with prizes go ing to Janice Miller, Petty Miller and Sylvia Church. Dale received many practical gifts from his lit tle friends. After the candles, which topp ed the birthday cake, were blown out by the honoree, Mrs. Church had the assistance of Mrs. Dick Thompson and Mrs. Edd Bumgar ner in serving the cake, Ice cream and lemonade to the children. For favors each guest was pre sented an Easter Basket Bunny. Music Lovers Club In Two Meetings The Junior group of the Music Lovers cluib was entertained by Gladys Sebastian at her home on E Street. Betty Wells, the presi dent, presided, and Glnnie Brame, program chairman, di rected the program, which In cluded a number of piano solos. The hostess was assisted by her mother, Mrs. A. L. Sebastian, in serving refreshments during the social hour.
