Kenerly has been ill since Monday and has been confined to his home. Mr. L. S. Spainhour was in St. Louis, Mo., this week in the interest of Spainhour-Sydnor company of this city. Kenneth Lee McNeil, fireman, DSN, of Ferguson, recently visited the city of Rhodes, Greece, when his ship, the destroyer USS Vogelgesang, moored there as a unit of Task Force 167 assisting the United Nations Mediator for Palestine, Dr. Ralph Bunche. Some of the most interesting landmarks seen by McNeil were the site of the famous Colossus of Rhodes, the huge bronze statue that was one of the wonders of the ancient world; the huge wall, built in 408 B. C., that surrounds the city itself; Mussolini's medieval-style castle built in 1937 as a summer home; and the Street of Knights with the Crusaders' coats of arms in stone above each doorway. McNeil, who entered the Naval service July 7, 1946, received his recruit training at the Naval Training Center, Great .Lakes, 111. Before entering the Navy he attended Ferguson high school. Lester Atwood Gudger, aviation machinist mate second class in the navy, arrived from Putxient River, Md., Tuesday to spend 30 days leave here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Gudger. He has completed six months service in Germany following 18 months in the Pacific. Mr. and Mrs. Lane Atkinson, Mr. Lane Atkinson, Jr., and Mrs. Genio Oardwell spent the Easter holidays with Mr. and Mrs. Claude Elledge at Charleston, West Virginia.
