About Comers and Goers ... From Here and There People You Know Who Move About Mr. and Mrs. Hal Church spent the w«ek-end with friends in Shelbys Mr. T. M. Whittlngton has gone to Morehead City as a rep resentative of Disabled Veterans of America. Mr. J. P. Jenrette, of Ashe ville, visited his brother-, Mr. Tom Jenrette, at the Wilkes hospital Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Harmon visited Mr. Harmon's brother, Mr. T. L. Harmon, and family in Elkin Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. R. T. Pardue, of Harkers Island, are spending several days with relatives and friends in this city. Mr. and Mrs. Eli Sebastian and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Cleary spent the week-end visiting rela tives In Fayettville. Pfc. Jack Badgett, who has completed basic training in the air corps at San Antonio, Texas, is spending several days at home here. After his furlough Jack will be in air corps-school at Eeesler Field, Miss. Mr. Jack Strader, student ol Appalachian college in Boone, spent the week-end here with hia parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Strader.. Miss Ceraldine Gaddy is mak ing satisfactory improvement following an operation she under went • Saturday at the Wilkes Hospital, where she is still a patient. Mr. Tom Jenrette, manager of the Wilkes Chamber of Com merce, remains a patient at the Wilkes hospital, where he was reported today as resting well and improving. Mr. Jenrette re ceived a severe cut through his right eye in an- accident at his home May 7. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Hendren, of Moravian Palls, will go to Boone Friday to attend the grad uation and presentation of de grees at Appalachian college. Their daughter, Miss Mary Sue Hendren, will receive a degree in the commencement. Miss Hen dren majored in primary educa tion. Mr. Bill Gabriel, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Gabriel, of this city, will play the part of John in "Life With Father," a play to be given by High Point College students at Junior High audi torium in High Point Saturday night. Kenneth l«ee McNeil, fireman, USN, of Route 1, Ferguson, N. C., is scheduled to arrive in Nor folk, Va., May 24, after a .ix month crtrtse in the Mediterran ean aboard the destroyer USS Vogelgesang. Earlier this month he visited the French Riviera and Oran, Algeria, prior to bidding farewell to Europe at the Rock of Gibraltar and sailing for home. Max Dean /Byers, seaman ap prentice, USN, son of Mrs. Nora Bumgarner Byers of Route 1, North Wilkesboro, N. C., is sche duled to arrive in Philadelphia, Penn., May 24, after a five month cruise in the Mediterranean in board the destroyer USS Good rich. Earlier this month he visit ed Trieste and Oran, Algeria, prior to bidding farewell to Eur ope at the Rock of Gibraltar and sailing for home. —— n . Baptist Sunday School Rally To Be Held Sunday Sunday school rally for the Brushy Mountain Baptist associ ation will be held Sunday, May 22, at Mount Pleasant Baptist church, according to announce; ment by J. Fl. Jordan, moderator of the Sunday school association. The rally will take the place of group meetings and all Sun day school superintendents, teachers, laymen and others in terested are invited from all the churches. Speakers will include Mrs. Clate Bumgarner, Rev. Dean Minton and T. EX Story, modera tor of the Brushy Mountain as sociation. o Mary Sue Hendren Finishes Appalachian Miss Mary Sue Hendren, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Hendren, of Moravian Falls, will graduate at Appalachian college at Boone Friday morning, May 20. The name of Miss Hendren was inadvertantly omitted from a list furnished by the college and published in this newspaper Monday. ■ o Rev. Dean Minton Will Preach Sunday At Moravian Falls Rev. Dean Minton, of North Wilkesboro, will preach Sunday morning, 11 o'clock, in a service of Moravian Falls Baptist church. The service will be held in Mo ravian Falls Methodist church, due to the fact that the Baptist church there is under construc tion. The public is cordially in vited. Shrubs Blooming Along Parkway The Flame Azalea, The Mag |nolia Trees and the famous Pur ple Rhododendron are all now blooming along the Blue Ridge Parkway, and are causing much comment from the large crowds daily visiting this beautiful drive. The coming weeks will provide much enjoyment for nature lov ers as the Parkway continues to bring forth its fine display of flowering plants and shrubs. Doncy Child Died Here Wednesday Queenie Margaret Dancy, teu year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oarr Dancy, died at four p. m. Wednesday at the home of her parents in North Wilkesboro. She had been ill for several days. Surviving are the father and mother, four brothers and two sisters: Elmore Dancy, North Wilkesboro; C. W. and Isom Dancy, Baltimore, Md.; William Dancy and Mrs. Pearl Myers Greenville, S. C.; Gloria Jean Dancy, North Wilkesboro. Funeral service will be held Friday, 2:30, at Hinshaw Street Baptist church.
