— - ——————( $ip Caudill Is Amnan Of Month 90th Squadron Headquarters Yokota AFB, Japan.—Charles "Chip" Caudill, son of Mrs. H. B. Douglas, 210 6th Street, North Wilkesboro, North Carolina, really had a big month In Japan recently when he was selected as Unit Airman of the month lor the 90th Bom bardment Squadron and promot ed to the grade of Corporal. Corporal Caudill enlisted in the United States Air Force in August of last year and arrived in Japan in the middle of Decem ber. Upon arrival at the second major port of Yokohama he was assigned to the Fifth Air Force and subsequently reassigned as a clerk typist in the Orderly Room of the 90th Bombardment Squadron at Yokota Air Force, Base, most prominent aerial in stallation in the Far East Air Forces, located, approximately thirty miles northwest of the Tokyo-Yokohama area. In the announcement of his se lection as Airman of the Month, Major Stanley Kline, Command ing Officer of the Squadron, said, "Corporal Caudill is a excellent Airman and has ably demonstrat ed this in the efficient perform ance of his duties in the Orderly Room. His exemplary personal habits and military bearing have won him the respect of all Offi cers and Airmen with whom he Idks come in contact." / Prior to service with the Air /rV>rce, Corporal Caudill held a position with the Prevette's stores in North Wilkesboro, un til the time of his enlistment. A graduate of North Wilkesboro high school, class of '48, Airmdn tudill lettered four years each football and basketball. Since hia arrival in Japan he has played basketball and is currently play ing softball for the Squadron team. o Milk production per cow in North Carolina last year amount ed to 4,330 pounds, an increase of 70 pounds per cow over pro duction for 1947. ORDER AUTHORIZING $45,000 OP ROAD AND BRIDGE RE FUNDING BONDS OF THE COUNTY OF WILKES BE IT ORDERED by the Board of Commissioners of the County of Wilkes, North Carolina, as follows: Section 1. That bonds of the County of Wilkes of the maximum aggregate amount of $45,000 are hereby authorized to be issued pur suant to the County Finance Act, as amended, for the purpose of re funding valid existing debt of said County incurred for necessary ex penses and for special purposes within the meaning of the Consti tution of North Carolina and evi denced by the following bonds: $11,000 5%% Road Bonds dated April 12, 1919, and payable April 12, 1950, $10,000 4%% Road Bonds dated November 1, 1916, and payable November 1, 1949, $14,000 6% Road Bonds dated November 15, 1921, and pay able November 15, 1949, $3,000 5%% Road and Bridge Bonds dated May 1, 1922, and payable May 1, 1950. $3,000 5%% Road and Bridge Bonds dated May 1, 1923, and payable May 1, 1950, and $4,000 5% Road and Bridge Bonds dated December 1, 1924, and payable December 1, 1949. Sec. 2. That a tax sufficient to pay the principal and interest of the bonds herein authorized when due shall be annually levied and collected. Sec. 3. That a statement of the County debt for other than school purposes has been filed with the clerk and is open to public inspec tion. Sec. 4. That this order shall take effect upon its passage and shall not be submitted to the voters. The foregoing order was finally passed on the 16th day of May, L949, and was first published on 19th day of May, 1949. That bonds of the County of Wilkes of the maximum aggregate amount of $6,000 are hereby authorised to be issued pur suant to the County Finance Act, as amended; for the purpose of re funding valid existing debt of said County incurred by said County as an administrative agency of the State of North Carolina for the necessary expense of providing the six-months school term as a part of the uniform State system of public schools as required by the Constitution of North Carolina and evidenced by the following bonds: $3,000 5 School Funding Bonds dated July 2, 1923, and payable July 2, 1949, and $2,000 6% School Bonds dated * December 1, 1936, and payable December 1, 1949.
