Legion Post And Auxiliary Instill Officers Thursday At a Joint meeting of Wilkes county post 125, American Le gion and the Auxiliary officers for both organizations were in stalled for the coming year last Thursday evening at the Legion Hut. Officers of the Auxiliary for the year 1948-1949 were unani mously reelected fox the ensuing year. The Auxiliary "officers were Installed by past State President, Mrs. W. R. Absher. Commending the new officers of the Auxiliary for their splendid work of the previous year, Mrs. Absher point ed out the important work neces sary to continue the success of the local Auxiliary. Officers of the Auxiliary in stalled for the coming year were: President, Mrs. R. O. Finley; first vice president, Mrs. John W. Leyshon; second vice president and corresponding secretary, Mrs. Ralph Bowman; recording secretary, Miss Norma Steven son; and treasurer, Mrs. Harry Hettiger. L. M. Dr. Hiatt's message was of | great interest to the audience and his remarks centered around a theme of "Looking Ahead" was interspersed with amusing stories and anecdotes. Plans were tentatively made for a picnic to be held jointly by the post and the Auxiliary. The picnic will be held at Bluff Park on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Members of the Auxiliary and the post and their families are all invited and it is hoped that this will be only the first of many joint "get-togethers" between the two organizations.
