Crick^ Club-Holds
Its June Meeting
*
The June meeting of the
Cricket Club was held In the new
Home Demonstration Kitchen In
the courthouse in Wilkeeboro.
Don't aak as If we are proud of
that kitchen. Go see it and re
joice with us.'
After the club was called to
order and a short devotional was
heard, a tribute was paid to Mrs.
Minnie Barnard, who passed a
way since the May meeting.
The Treasurer's reports came
after the minutes were read and
approved, and we find funds are
rapidly diminishing while / the
-walla of the community house
slowly climb higter. A commit
tee was appointed to solicit do
nations, but why wait to be
asked? Why not surprise us and
send to the chairman of the com
mittee, Mrs. Edd Bumgarner,
•Cricket, N. C., a nice fat check.
After you do that plan to come
to the bingo party in the old
store building at Dewey Turner's
on the evening of June 10. Don't
forget, plenty of prizes, cakes,
pies, rooted pot flowers and
many other things. .
The Cancer drive, and the can
cer detention center, were an
nounce and explained and we
are ready to help there too.
Since June 5, ia. Shut-ins Day
we listed all our unfortunate
friends for remembrance from
the club.
After all this general routine
the big business of the afternoon
came. A salad making demon
stration, given by Mrs. Phil For
ester, with Mrs. Clyde Shoemak
er, Mrs. S. L. Whitaker, Mrs. Al
bert Vannoy and Mrs. Ella Crysel
as helpers. All kinds of fancy
salads in the form of flowers,
rabbits, wreaths and snowballs
were shown us, then the practi
cal every day, less troublesome
salads were made. The demon
stration showed skill and beauty
as well as being the products of
nutrition and just down right
good. We know, because we ate
them, and we have never been
served more beautiful refresh
ments.
was aDout to iorget mat wii
lie Hurley came in and made
pictures, but he left before the
products were displayed. I guess
he was like the rest of us, for
we all had a mighty tickling in
the tnmmy before the time came
to eat.
Mrs. Greene announced the
floor sanding demonstration at
Mrs. John Andrews, near Boom
er on June 22, and urged us all
to attend. We are to take lunch
and stay all day.
We were happy to enroll an
other new member this month,
Mrs. Harry Kendall.
Thank you in advance for your
contributions to Cricket Com
munity House, and we will see
you at the bingo party.—By
