JENNINGS The Southside Singing Associ ation convened at Walnut Grove Baptist church, at Pores Knob, Sunday, May 29, at 11 o'clock. Chairifian F. J. McDuffie presid ed and led the devotionals. The session was opened by The Sun Beam Quartet, manager Charlie T. Jones of Jonesville, followed by the Oak Ridge (Quar tet, leader Howard Adams of Jonesrille; the Mt. Vernon Quartet, leader Joe Hayes of Boone; the Harmonisers Quartet, leader Z. T. Greene of Granite Falls; the Victory Quartet, lead er Mr. Hemric of Ronda; The Iredell Four Quartet, leader Joe Bowles, of Statesville, and the Twin-City Quartet, leader Fred Marshall of Winston-^Salem. Aft er one round all were called to gether for a chorus to end the morning session. * At the noon hour everyone enjoyed a bounti ful picnic on the ground. The afternoon session opened with congregational singing by Robert Johnson, of Wilkesboro. Other singers and pianists en roll^ Vere SIT. <Jarmel Choir, lfwrfer Ray Parliel' Pores Knob; the Sunrise ^artetr lead er Oarsh Fox of Hiddenite; Wal nut Grove Quartet, leader J. B. Parlier, of Pores Knob. Mr. Par licr also led in congregational singing during the day; the (Wel come Home choir, leader Sher man Shumate, and Welcome Home Quartet, leader Worth Vannoy, of Cricket; Herschel Wooten, baritone soloist of Win ston-Salem; The Hendren quar tet, leader Floyd Hendren, of Gilreath; J. R. Swan son, vocal soloist of Lenoir; also piano so loists Miss Lois Sharpe of Hid denite and Miss Emogene Greene of Granite Falls. After rounds of singing, all were grouped again to sing fav orites of the season, led by Fred Marshall. Time was 'given for special requests. The association wishes to thank J. B. Parlier and helpers for the table and the home church with others who provided the fine picnic on the ground; The Twin-City Quartet for the loud speaker; the Pores Knob Community House trustees for extra chairs; the Euzelian Sun day school class for the beautiful flower arrangement; Milas Lowe for the abundance of ice/ water; Edmond Edsel ^nd Earl Mea dows for parking cars, and all others who contributed to the success of the occasion.
