Knob Home Club Entertains At Party A beautiful party was given the young people of the Pores Knob Community On Friday eve ning, June 17th, from 8 to 11 o'clock at the Pores Knob Com munity House by the Home Demonstration Club honoring some of the 1949 high school graduates. As the guests arrived they were greeted by officers of the club and the honor guests wno wore corsages of daisies (gold and white) tied with green rib bon, which were presented by Mrs. Jim Frazler. All the club women wore green hostess tags with a daisy tied in gold ribbon. Misses Blanche Lowe and Bet ty Broyhill presided at the reg istrars table. As each guest was registered the name was dropped in a green can tied with gold ribbon from which names were later drawn for several prizes which had been donated by the club women. Worth Gamble and Charlie Bentley gave out numbers to the boys and girls to be matched for partners for the relay races and for refreshments. Mrs. Kenneth Broyhill, the club recreational leader, directed entertaining games and contests. The fortunes for the night were written on white paper fastened In gold and green and were giv en to the guests from a small gold covered folder. Each one read his or her fortune to the audience. At the close of the fun the hostesses served fruit salad, cup cakes, chocolate covered mints, and iced tea to about seventy five people.—Reported by Mrs. J. M. Bentley. Evangelist Keyes States Appreciation Many people in Fairplains and Dellaplane communities preser t ed to Evangelist 'Sledgehammer' Charlie Andrew Keyes, Jr., sev eral gifts, in appreciation for his work, and help to thousands spiritually in Wilkes county. Several ^good people from Fair plains and Roaring River pre sented to the Evangelist a beauti ful gold watch, and several other nice and expensive gifts. The following is a word of appreci ation from the Evangelist to his many friends in Wilkes county. "I wish to take this space to thank each and every one for the love you show for me in present ing to me the many fine gifts, in appreciation for my labours among you in Wilkes county. This proves I have many good friends throughout Wilkes, who appreciate a man who lives and preaches the word of God. Again I thank you all from the depth of my heart." Evangelist Keyes will preach at the Fairplains community church Sunday night, June 26th, 7:30 p. m. A lecture will be given by the evangelist at Oak Forest Baptist church Saturday night, June 25, on "Russia and the Communist Beast."
