Brown was host ess to the members of the Round Table club and twft extra guests, Mrs. L. H. Snyder and Mrs. Der mont Smith, at her home on Kens ington Drive Friday afternoon. The top score prize, in the game of bridge played at two tables, went to Mrs. Arthur Venable and the low score award to Mrs. Ray Hoover. Mrs. Snyder was the win ner in bingo. A dessert course was served to guests on arrival. Mrs. Walter Eller Sans Souci Hostess Mrs. Walter Eller was hostess to the members of the Sans Souci club at her home on the Boone highway Thursday evening, and had two additional guests, Mrs. E. S. Kendrick and Mrs. R. N. Wooten. Top score award, in the game of bridge played at two tables, went to Mrs. M. B. Mc Neill, Mrs. Floyd Woodward re ceived second high score prize. A dessert course was served at the beginning of play. Miss Mary Lee Gardner Feted At Bridge Party China in her pattern and a cor sage of white flowers were gifts Miss Vivian McNeill had for Miss Mary Lee Gardner, June bride elect, at the dessert-bridge she gave at her home on Tenth Street Friday evening. Mrs. Frank Dresser, of Charlottesville, Va., who is here visiting with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Jones; and Mrs. Charlie Winters, the former Miss Carolyn Moore, re ceived remembrances from the hostess. In the game of bridge played at three tables high and low score prizes were awarded to Mrs. Dresser and Mrs. Ray Watts. Place cards and tallies carried sugges tions of the bridal note, and mixed flowers were used for decorations. Mr. and Mrs. Donald J. Moffatt were hosts at a small dinner party at their home on Trogdon Street Wednesday evening as a courtesy to Miss Mary Lee Gardner and Don Culler, who are to be married in the First Methodist church on Wednesday afternoon, June 29. The M<$ffatts presented the honored couple with silver in their pattern. Euzelian S. S. Class Meeting Well Attended •With an attendance of thirty four members an interesting meet ing of the Euzelian Sunday School of the First Baptist church was held Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. Jay Brookshire on Ninth Street with Mesdames Bryce Cau dill, Ray Shumaker, Joe Spicer, and IJdiss Ruby Kilby as associate hostesses. Mrs. Flake Cook • con ducted the devotions, and Mrs. Al lie Hayes, program chairman, pre sented her sister, Mrs. Tysinger, who gave a talk on some biblical characters. Mrs. Homer Bookshire occupied the chair for a business session,, and Mrs. Ralph Frazier directed the entertainment during the social hour, which was follow ed by refreshments. Mrs. R. L. Wellborn Bible Class Hostess The Ila Holman Bible class of the Wilkesboro Baptist church met Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. R. L. Wellborn at her home in Willkesboro, having eleven me n bers and one visitor present). Mrs. Wellborn was in charge if the meeting which opened with the group singing "Trust and Obey". Mrs. Chirles Steelman conducc.-.i the devotions using as her theme, obedience., and talks carrying the same thought were made by Mrs. W. N. Brookshire and Mrs. Nan Hoyle. Sentence prayers ami the hymn "Only Trust Him" complet ed the devotional period. Mrs. Gant gave the closing prayer, and during the social hour Mrs. Well born served refreshments. Fidelis Class In Monthly Meeting A large number of the members attended the meeting of the Fidelis class of the North Wilkes boro First Baptist church held Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. T. J. Frazier. Assocate host esses were Mesdames R. T. |Mc Niel. H. L. Keller, J. G. Chipman, and Claude Hutchens. Mrs. Fred Emerson, the president, was; in charge of the business sessiori at which time plans were discussed for increasing the attendance arJ enlisting new members for the class. Mrs. Floyd Woodward, as sisted by Mrs.' C. B. Eller, Mrs. *. Q. Adams, and Miss Lillian Staf ford, conducted an impressive de votional period. WHICKER, J, R., Trustee ' 6-30-4t Garden Club Met Tuesday Afternoon Mrs. P. W. Deaton, of Hick ory, spoke to the local Garden club in their monthly meeting held Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. A. C. Chamberlain. Mrs. Deaton, president of District No. 2, told about the State Oar den club meeting held in Char lotte recently, and the I re-dis tricting of the districts. The Foothills district, which has been enlarged, has been changed to District No. 2. Mrs. Deaton also gave a talk on flower ar rangements, during which time she arranged several bouquets. Mrs, Chamberlain presided for the business session. Upon the resignation of Mrs. Chamberlain, Mrs. H. G. Duncan was elected sb president of the club and will take over her duties in October. Plans were discussed for the district meeting to be held here on October the first, and. the club voted to give $15.00 to the cancer fund. This meeting mark ed the last one of the club until September. Sixteen members and three j visitors were present, ana dur-1 ing the social hour were served Refreshments by the hostess. Mrs. Townsend of Hickory, ac companied Mrs. Deaton to the meeting.
