Miss Nell Meyer, of Valdosta, Ga., and Banner Elk, was a guest during the week-end in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Flnley. Guests for the day Sunday in the Flnley home were Miss Gwenn E&stridge, of Sarasota, Fla., and Miss Betty Mattheson, of Boone. Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Prltchett, oi Albany, Ga., are spending* a tew days with Mr. and Mrs. James W. Lowe and Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Hall. Miss Mary Caroon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Caroon, and Miss Margaret Anderson, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. An derson, are enjoying a ten-day vacation at Myrtle Beach, S. C. Miss Ruth McNeill, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Qlenn McNeill, is spending six weeks at Towson, Md., where she Is taking a six weeks' extension course at the Maryland State Teachers' College. Mrs. Boyd Putman and two daughters, Mary Frances and Sa rah, of Boiling Springs, spe'nt last week here In the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Hauss. Mrs. Ptil man is a sister of Mr. Haass. Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Bloomfield and son, Jljpmy, have recently moved into the apartment of Mrs. Bloomfield's aunt, Miss Elisabeth Barber. They came here from Bristol, Tenn. Mr. Broomfleld has a position with the Carolina Mir ror Corporation. Rev. and Mrs. Fred Blevins and Mr. and Mrs. Ted Johnson visited relatives and friends in Clegghorn Valley, Virginia, Thursday of last week. While there they enjoyed a visit to Hungry Mother Park near Mar ion, Va. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Taylor, of Cherry Point and Beaufort, and Sgt._ O. C. Bumgarner, Jr., of the marine corps air base at Cherry Point, wore guests of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Bumgarner, Sr., of North Wil kesboro .route one, last week. Mrs. Burl Mlchaef and twc months-old son, Danny, of Oak woods, left Tuesday of last week to join her husband in Biloxi, Miss., until his discharge in Sep tember. Burl's mother, who is in ill health, went with them but had to return because of the climate. Mrs. J. Thor Wanless and three daughters, Carol, Julia, and Sarah Rebecca, of Spring field, 111., who have been here two weeks visiting with Mrs. Wanless' parents, Judge and Mrs! Johnson J. Hayes, will be joined here this week by Mr. Wanless, who, after a week's visit, will ac company his family home. Buddy, eight-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Mock, of Greenville, Miss., is recovering nicely from an operation perform ed several days ago at the Wil kes Hospital. Miss Pam Starnes, of Forest City, is here spending a few days with Sergeant and Mrs. A. H. Clark. Mrs. Connie Wimbish, of Greensboro, was a guest here on Monday and Tuesday of Miss Mary Louise Clements. On Monday af ternoon, Miss Clements and her guest went to Charlotte to attend the wedding of ' Miss Beatrice Coble and William A. Graham, which took place at four o'clock in the chapel of Myers Park Presbyterian church. The bride, Mrs. Wimbish, and Miss Clem ents, were school mates at Wom an's College in Greensboro. A son, Charles Sidney, was born on July the ninth to Rev. and Mrs. Sidney D. Crane, of Philadelphia, Pa. Rot. Mr. Crane, who Is with the Westminister Foundation of Philadelphia, has his office with the Christian As sociation of the University of Pennyslvanla. The Cranes form erly lived ^in North Wilkesboro, Rev. Mr. Crane being a supply pastor of the First Presbyterian church. Mr. W. A. Watson, of Deep Gap, writer of a number of popular songs has a song entitl ed: "I'm In Love With Love" that is hitting the air waves on radio programs. It has had 60 performances over. radio in recent months. The author of this song would- like for you to re guest this number over your lo cal and other radio stations in this locality. Class Met Tuesday Evening Mrs. Allle Hayes, Mrs. Clyde Waugh, Mrs. L^arry Moore, and Mrs. Carl Holder joined hospi tality to the members of the Euxellan Sunday school class of the First Baptist church at the Hayes home on the Brushy Mountain Tuesday evening. IjL teen members were present. Flake Cook led the devotions, 5 and for the program Mrs. Eafl Pearson discussed a Biblical character, after which the gro«tl. sang several hymns. Mrs. Wayne * Foster was the program leader. Mrs. Homer Brookshire was in ' charge of the business session dur ing which time plans were made for the visit of Mary Elgin, from the Mills Orphanage in Thomas vllle, who will be a gueet of the class for a week beginning Aug ust the eighth. Refreshments were enjoyed during the sodal hour.
