Mr. and Mrs. Dermont Smith and two daughters, Misses Donna and Toby Smith, of this city, and Mrs. Smith's father, Mr. J. P Byerly, of High Point, are spend ing this week in Wildwood, N. Mr. Louis A. Floro, Jr., re turned Sunday from spending two weeks with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis A. Floro, at Camden, N. J. He was accompan ied on the trip by Miss Anne Sale and Jim Sale. Mrs. Joseph E. Johnson, of North Wilkesboro, accompanied by- her granddaughter, Miss Janie Hedrick, of Tampa, Flor ida, is visiting Mrs. Johnson s daughter, Mrs. R. E. Chapen, in New York City. Mr. Leonard Cook, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Cdbk, of this city, visited in Charlotte last week with Mr. Bobby Baity. The boys are school' mates at the Georgia Military Academy at College Park, Ga. , Miss Bertha Sockwell, of Greensboro, Miss Ella Sockwell, of Greenville, and their niece, Miss Ella Ruth Ewing, of New port News," Va., are visiting here this week with Mrs. C. Mrs. Paul McGinnis and daughter, Miss Joan McGinnis. have returned to their home at Washington, D. ,C. following a two weeks visit here in the home of Mrs. McGinnis' sister, Mrs. John Joines. Mr and Mrs. Henry Bauguss. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bauguss re turned Sunday from a vacation trip to Cherry Point, Morehead City nad Atlantic Beach. At Havelock they visited the, Messrs. Bauguss' mother, Mrs. M. E. Bauguss. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Badgett and daughter, Mary Jane, were in Arlington, Va., last week-end to attend the funeral of Mr. Badgett's brother. Last rites were held Tuesday and they re mained in Arlington until Wed nesday- tto-m James R. Billings seaman, USN, son of James G. Billings of Roar ing River, has reported fo* duty aboard the Navy's newest anti submarine destroyer, the USS Basilone, which will,be commis sioned July 26, 1949, at the Naval Shipyard, Boston, Mass. Miss Betty Gray Church visited at Wake Forest from Friday un til Monday in the home of her brother and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Church. Miss Church was accompanied home by herj other brother, Dan Church, who had spent two weeks with Mr. and Mrs. Church.
