To this union were born 6 children, 3 boys and two girls: Robert, Jr., Mamie Statelle, John Roger, Margaret Lucille, and Larry Lee Johnson. On December 15, 1945, he was carried to the Western, N. O. Sanitorium at Black Moun tain for treatment of T. B. He was brought back to the Wilkes Sanitorium on'Oct 19, 1947 where he remained until his death. At the age of 16 he pro fessed faith in Christ and join ed New Hope Baptist church in Brushy Mountain township, near Gilreath, where he remained a member until his death. He has eight living brothers and sisters: Mrs. Bertie Hendren, Gilreath; Mrs. Clara Smithey, Moravian Fails; Mrs. Emma Lee Hefner, Newton; Mrs. Stella Mitchell, North Wilkesboro; Mrs. Doro thy Hincher, North Wilkesboro; Vernon Johnson, Newton; Cpl. Eunest Buster Johnson, Man chester, N. H., of the Army Air Force, and Clifford Johnson, of the home with the mother at North Wilkesboro. His father and one sister preceded him in death.
