Mrs. Lawrence Hunt Feted At Breakfast To compliment a bride of the summer, Mrs. Lawrence Hunt, MrS. J. D. Moore, Jr., and Mrs. Hampton McNeill were hostesses at a breakfast at the Carolina Breakfast club Wednesday morn ing at the Carolina Restaurant. Covers were laid for sixteen, with the honoree's place being marked with a corsage. Mrs. Hunt, the former Miss Myrtle Norris, received from her hos I tesses silver in her pattern. Elizabeth Gabriel Fetes Recent Bride At Kitchen Shower ?Greensboro.?Mrs. Jack Ander son was honored Thursday night when Miss Elizabeth Gabriel en tertained at her home, 117 Cy pres Street. The honoree before her recent marriage was Rose Zell Caudlll of North Wllkesboro. Guests showered the bride with kitchen gifts to which the hostess added china. Mrs. Ander son also wore a corsage of gar denias from Miss Gabriel. Punch and cookies were served. Those attending were Mes dames Henry Gabriel, Frank Lowe, Norman Campbell, Wil liam Gabriel, George Gabriel, Deeb Gabriel, Misses Doretta Foster, Charlotte Graham, Mil dred Stafford, and 'Margie Mun roe. The Misses Rousseaus Give Supper Party Saturday evening Misses Fran ces and Nancy Rousseau enter tained at an out door supper at the home of their parnts, Judge and Mrs. J. A. Rousseau, as a courtesy to three brides-elect and their fiances, Miss Dot Pow ell and William Gray, of Wll kesboro, Miss Mary Gage Barber and Joseph Clements, North Wll kesboro; and Miss Lucille Casey, and George Wilson, of Belmont. Approximately thirty guests were present for the supper served on the side lawn, the hostesses be ing assisted in the serving by their mother, Mrs. Rousseau. Gifts were presented to the hon orees. Two Hostesses Honor Three Brides-Elect Mrs. O. K. Whittington and her sister, Mrs. Claude Hutchens, were hostesses at a bridge party at the Whittington home in Wll kesboro Thursday evening honor ing three brides-elect, Misses Mary Gage Barber, Lucille Casey, and Mary Dula. The hostesses presented Miss Barber with china, and the other two hon orees with silver. Bridge was played at five tables, being preceded by a des sert course. High and low score awards in the game were won by Mrs. Presley Myers and Miss Norma Smoak. In the party ap pointments a color note of green and white was used in the din ing room, and a pink and white note elsewhere about the home. Mrs. W. F. Gaddy Gives Lovely Tea Mrs. -William Franklin Gaddy entertained at a lovely tea at her home in Finley Park Tues day afternoon honoring her son's wife, Mrs. William Frederick. Gaddy, a recent bride; and the hostess' four sisters, Miss Ruby Hudson, of Waldesboro; Mrs. Paul Armour Cox, of Concord; Mrs. James Roberson Mills and Mrs. Virgil M. Whitley, both of Albemarle. A large number of friends called between the hours of four to six to enjoy the grac ious hospitality of the hostess and to greet the bride, the form er Miss Betty Lou Foster, and the four visitors. The guests were greeted on the porch by Mrs. C. B. Lomax and Mrs. T. H. Waller, and welcomed at the door by Mrs. Edd F. Gard ner and Mrs. Carlyle Ingle. Mrs. Max Foster, mother of the bride, received with the hostess and the honorees. Mrs. C. J. Swofford and Mrs. Guy Lillard showed the guests to the dining room where punch was poured by Mrs. Ivey Moore and Mrs. Isaac Eller, Sr. Assisting with the serving were Miss Geraldine Gaddy, Miss Fran ces Harris, Mrs. Betty Lou Mc Neill, and Mrs. Thurman Kener ly. ? >*..'? ' Mrs. Dermont Smith and Mrs. Lee Edward Harris directed call ers to the guest register, which was in charge of Mrs. Z. O. Eller and Mrs. W. A. Hardister. Good-byes were spoken to Mrs. J. M. Crawford and Mrs." R. J. Hinshaw. Decorations for the dining room carried a bridal note, and mixed flowers were used else where about the home. The din ing table, spread with a white cut work cloth, was centered with an arrangement of white flowers and green candles. Miss Frazier, Mrs. Watts Entertain At Cards To honor a reecnt bride, Mrs. Jack Anderson, of Greensboro, and four brides-elect, Misses Dot Powell, Lucille Casey, Mary Gage Barber, and Mary Dula, a lovely card party was given Friday eve ning by Miss Jackie Frailer and Mrs. Ray Watts at the Frazier home on Sixth Street. Mrs. An derson Is the former Miss Rose Zell Caudill, of this city; Miss Powell Is to wed William Gray, Miss Casey, George Wilson, Miss Barber, Joseph Clements, and Miss Dula, Edsel Whlttington. The honorees were given corsag es and gifts in their various pat terns. A dessert course was served at the beginning of the game of bridge and rook played at eight tables. Miss Geraldine Caldwell was the winner of the top score prize in bridge, and Miss Elizabeth Lee, of Lawndale, houseguest of Mrs. ^ Ray Harris, received the prize in rook. Wilkesboro Circle Enjoys Picnic Circle No. 3 members of the Wilkesboro Baptist church en joyed a picnic at Smoot Park on Tuesday evening. The food was carried by each of the members After the picnic the group ga thered together for a short bus iness session, of which Mrs Charlie Bumgarner was in charge. Miss Zell Harris Bridge Club Hostess The members of the Sans Souci club and a few extra guests were entertained by Miss Zell Harris at her home at Roar ing River Thursday evening. Bridge, played at two tables, was followed by refreshments. Top score prise for visitors was won by Mrs. Cleve Beshears, and for club members the high and se cond high score prizes went to Mrs. Walter E-ller and Mrs. R. H. Shell.
