Mrs. Elmer Lowe was in charge of the devotional per iod, bringing an inspiring mes sage on "The Virtue of Cheerful ness." The class president, Mrs. Pres ley Myers, presided during the business session and heard the usual reports. The following of ficers were elected for the com ing year: class president Mrs. George Parlier; 1st vice presi dent, Mrs. Robert Foster; 2nd vice president, Mrs. Zeb Dickson; 3rd vice president, Mrs. G. T Mitchell; 4th vice president, Mrs. Bill Jester; class secretary, Mrs. Monzel Mastin. During the social hour refresh ments were served by the hos tesses, assisted by Miss Lois Ann Myers. The meeting was well attend ed, having 19 members and 2 visitors present. Miss Lucille Casey Feted At Breakfast As a courtesy for Miss Lucille Casey, bride-elect this week of George Campbell Wilson, of Bel mont, Mrs. Boyd Stout was hos tess at a small breakfast at the Carolina Breakfast club Wed nesday morning. Other guests were Miss Casey's grandmother, mother, her matron of honor and maid of honor in her wedding, Mrs. A. J. Eller, Mrs. A. H. Cas ey, Mrs. Bob Day, and Miss Mary Ann Casey. A corsage and a gift marked the honoree's place. Mrs. Eller received the orchid given by the Breakfast club for being the oldest person present. Mrs. Larry Brookshire Bible Class Hostess Mrs. Larry Brookshire enter tained the members of the Daily Bible Reading Class, of the Pairplains community August 18th. A delicious dinner was served before the beginning of the study, the hostess being as sisted by her daughters. At 1:30 devotional opened with prayers and song "Count Your Blessings." Lesson was the beginning of a series of compre hensive studies of the Book to the Hebrews. Mrs. Ben Colvard, leader, brought out the blessed truth of "Christ, the Mediator of a New and Better Covenant," and the fact that "without faith it is impossible to please God." On Friday evening Miss Harriet Crutchfleld was hostess at a small bridge party at her home on C Street honor ing Miss Lucille Casey, bride elect of George Wilson, of Bel mont; and Miss Dot Powell, bride-to-be of William Gray, of Wilkesboro. Both honorees were given china in their patterns and corsages. High and low score awards in the game, played at three tables, went to Mrs. Robert Smoak and Miss Jerry Caldwell. A dessert course was served at the beginning of the game. Mrs. Don Culler, a bride of the sum mer, was given a gift. Mrs. Raymond Bowen, of Win ston-Salem, and her sister. Miss Vivian McNeill, entertained at a dessert card party at the McNeill home on Tenth Street Saturday afternoon to honor Miss Casey. Other honor guests for the party included Miss Mary Dula, bride elect of Edsel Whittington, North Wilkesboro; Mrs. Ray Hughes Garland, the former Miss Wanda Campbell, Mrs. William Raymer, who prior to her marriage was Miss Ruby Dancy, and Miss Powell. The honorees received from their hostesses corsages of white flowers, and gifts in their various patterns. A color note of green and white mad- --tting for the guests, who played bridge and rook at five tables. High and low score prizes in bridge were won by Miss Jerry Caldwell and Mrs. Robert Davis, while in rook the prizes went to Miss' Mary Ann Casey and Mrs. Wan da Miller. For Saturday evening Miss Jerry Caldwell gave an out door supper at her home on Kensing ton Drive as a courtesy for Miss Casey and her fiance, Mr. Wil son, guests including a small group of friends. Th*t Book to tho Ktokry Pastime Club Met With Mrs. Kite I 1 The members of the Pastime bridge club and a few extra guests were entertained by Mrs. Bob Kite at her home Monday evening. Top score prizes for the club members and visitors in the game of bridge played at three tables, were won by Mrs. Arthur Lowe and Mrs. James Lowe. Mrs.' Page Choate received second high score award, Mrs. Joe Can ter the bingo prize, and the trav filer's prizes went to Mrs. Arthur Lowe and Mrs. Charles Day, Jr. The hostess served a salad course. Mrs. James Lowe Is Bridge Club Hostess Mrs. James Lowe was hostess to the members of the Wilabrl bridge club and a number of ad ditional guests at her home in Wilkesboro Tuesday evening. Six tables were arranged for bridge in a colorful setting of mixed cut flowers. Honor gifts of silver In their chosen patterns were pre sented by Mrs. Lowe to Miss Dot Powell, bride-elect of William Gray, Wilkesboro; and Miss Mary Dula, who Is to wed Edsel Whittington, North Wilkesboro.
