:SOCIETY: Powell-Gray Vows Are Spoken In Home Ceremony Miss Dorothy Lee Powell, daughter of Mr. and Mm. James Wright Powell, of North Wilkes boro, became the bride of Wil liam Campbell Gray, son of Mrs. Alexander Russell Gray, of Wll kesboro, and the late Mr. Gray, In a lovely ceremony at the home of the bride's parents on D Street Sunday afternoon, Septem ber the eleventh, at four o'clock. Dr. Gilbert R. Combs, pastor of the First Methodist church, was the officiating minister. The background before which the tows were spoken was flank ed with fern and pink candela bras holding pink tapers and a large arrangement of pink roses. Mrs. Wake Clark was soloist, accompanied at the piano by Mi;. Paul Withers, of Gastonia, uncle of the bride. The bride, given in marriage by her father, had as her only attendant her cousin, Miss Jean Horton,? of Flint, Michigan. Rus sell Gray was his brother's best man. The bride's wedding gown cf blush pink taffeta was fashioned with fitted bodice, sweetheart neckline, finger tip sleeves, and a full skirt ending in a train. To the coronet of pink seed pearls was attached the three-tiered finger tip veil of imported blush pink illusion. Her bouquet of pink roses and white orchids was showered with tube roses. -Miss ftorton, the honor at tendant, wore a dress of pink marquisette over pink taffeta and carried a bouquet of pink roses centered with tube roses. Pink tube roses formed her head dress. A small reception was given by the bride's parehts following the ceremony, after which the young couple left for a wedding trip For travel the bride wore a moonstone blue velveteen suit with matching accessories, and an orchid corsage. Mrs. Gray was graduated from t h-e North Wilkesboro high school and attended High Point College. She now holds a position with the American Furniture | company in North Wilkesboro. Mr. Gray, a graduate of the Wilkesboro high school, attended the University of Richmond, at Richmond, Va. He served with the Air Corps three years dur ing World War II, and is now connected with the Gray Broth ers Furniture Store in Wilkes boro. For the reception the table, covered with a lace cloth, was centered by a three-tiered pink wedding cake topped with a min iature bride and groom, and lighted by pink tapers in silver candelabras. Punch, nuts, and mints were served with the cake. Out of town guests attending the wedding and reception were: Mr. and Mrs. Paul Withers, Gas tonia; Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Hulse Mr. Eddie Hulse, and Miss Mary Hulse, Durham; Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Powell, Mr. and Mrs. W. r Powell, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Wil liams, Stokesdale; Mrs. Mamie Powell, Reidsville; and Mr. and Mrs. Jay Powell, Monroe. "Better Living for a Better World" will be the theme for National 4-H Achievement Week. November 5-13.
