EDITOR Mrs. Lawrence Miller Gives Card Party The Wilkes boro Community House was the setting for a love ly party on Friday evening when Mrs. Lawrence Miller entertained at cards. Bridge was played at nine tables with - the high score award going to Mrs. M. M ^Brame, Jr., while Mrs. Charles Garwood was the winner of the prize in the game of rook played at six tables. Honor gifts were presented to Mrs. Ray Garland, the former Miss Wanda Camp bell; to Mrs. H. H. Dotson, of Gladys, Va., houseguest of Mrs. Charles McNeill;-and Mrs. T. P. Cridlebaugh, of -Ashland, Ky., who was here visitihg her sister, Mrs. D. L. Crook. The hostess, prior to the game, I was assisted by Mesdames Thorn-1 as E. Crysel and Presley Myers in serving a dessert course. SUPPORT THE Y. M C. A. First Methodist MYF Holds A Retreat On Mountain Members of the Methodist Youth Fellowship of the North Wilkesboro First Methodist church held a Retreat during the' week-end at the Hubbard Cottage on the Brushy Mountain. On Saturday evening a group of the officers accompanied by Miss Rebecca Raper, director of Re ligious Education, Mr. Bill Ga briel, and Mr. and Mrs. Thur mond Kenerly, met and discuss ed plans for the year. Several re mained over for the night. The officers for the new church year are Miss Norma Ga briel, president; Mr. Jim Moore vice president; Miss Margie Ken erly, secretary and treasurer; and Miss Carolyn Deans, secre tary of the MYF Fund. Sunday morning a group of the other members joined those that spent the night and were led in a worship service by Mr. Ga briel. A picnic lunch was follow ed by a hike. Ex Libris Club Met Wijh Mrs. Johnston Ex Libris club members were entertained in their fortnightly meeting 'Friday afternoon by Mrs. Richard Johnston at her home on Tenth Street. Mrs. Dar win Smithey presided for a short business session, and for the pro gram Mrs. Johnston gave an ar ticle on the different types of homes.
