"Big Tine Here At *. Halloween Party Following is 'the announce ment of the Hallowe'en party to be staged at the North Wilkes horo school Monday night under /Mhpices of the Parent-Teacher Association: Everybody is invited! Come to the Hallowe'en Carnival at the North Wilkesboro school, Mon day night, Oct. 31. Plenty of fun and entertainment is planned for you. Starting off the program is the supper. Bring your family and eat in the school cafeteria. Serv ing begins at 6:00. There will be hamburgers, hot dogs, home baked pies, cakes, tarts, sand wiches, cold drinks, coffee, etc. The whole elementary building will be open, and there will be candy booths, fishing ponds, bin go, apple ducking, etc.; also side shows, such as The House 01 Horrors, and For Men Only. At 8:00 in the auditorium, the floor show begins, followed by the cos tume parade and the crowning of the elementary king and queen. In the gymnasium, beginning at nine, is the squarg dance for which a string band is to pro vide music. There will be cake walks here, too. The high school king and queen will be crowned in the gym. General admission will be 10c. There will be separate ad mission to the dance. Be sure to look for the directories so that you will see the full program. Don't miss a thing! Come with your pockets jingling, have a good time, and at the same time support the P.-T. A. and school. We'Jl be expecting you. Fun For All 29th Hallowe'en Party Millers Creek Women's Society of Christian Service will sponsor a Hallowe'en supper and carnival Saturday night, Oct. 29, begin ning at 6:00 p. m. It will be held in Ernest Gaither's store build ing on highway 421 near Millers Creek Drive In. The menu will include fried chicken with all the trimmings and pumpkin pie. Booths will be operated, in cluding fortune telling, a room of horrors, apple-bobbing, etc. A prise will be awarded for the fun niest costume. Good clean fun is promised for all and the public is cordially invited to attend. Plates for adults will be $1.00 and 50 cents for children under 14. There will be no entrance fee for the carnival, although small admissions will be charged at various booths. Tickets are now g sold by the members and also be purchased at the door. Boy Scout Course To Begin Monday The following announcement has been mailed Scouters by J, Floyd Woodward, chairman of the Leadership and Training di vision of the Wilkes Boy Scout district: "Monday night, October 31, will be the beginning of our an nual Boy Scout course. We plan to make every meeting practical, helpful, stimulating, and enjoy able. We want you to set aside the nights given _below and join us at the North Wllkesboro Meth odist church scout hall at 7:00 o'clock. We know your participa tion will help us; we believe our meetings will help you to be a stronger leader and a better man. Let's make our nation stronger by giving our boys the best that is in us through active, intelli gent leadership in all phases of scout work." Schedule of Meetings Monday night, October 31? Several improve ments have been made to the church. The pews have been shel lacked. A carpet has been placed up the aisle and around the pul pit. T. Mathis killed a big raccoon last week. Its hide may be seen banging Sr i pine tree near th mail boxes of Prank Sparks and Miss Ruth Linney. Mrs. Boyd, of the Brier Creek section, who has been very ill was said to be better. Mrs. Viola Gardner, of Kan napolis, visited her cousin, Mrs, Frank Sparks, recently. Mrs. Gardner was reared in this vi cinity. Joe Love, of Greensboro, ex pected to spend this week here having his house at his farm wired and looking after other matters. He says he is doing exceptionally well in Greensboro.
