The members of the Sans
Souci club were entertained
Thursday evening by Mrs. Walt
er Eller at her home on the
Boone Trail. Bridge was played
at two tables, with refreshments
being served during play. Win
ners of the high and second high
score prises were Mrs. R. H.
Shell and Mrs. M. M. Brame, Jr.

Entertains Her Club
Mrs. E. L. Green was hostess
to the members of the Wilabri
bridge club and some visitors
at her home in Wilkes boro
Thursday evening. Top score
prize for the club members was
won by Mrs. Yale Miller, while
the visitors high went to Mrs.
Johnson Sanders, and the bingo
award to Mrs. Russell Pearson.
A salad course was served at
the conclusion of the game
played at three tables.

Idlewise Hostess
Mrs. C. B. Eller entertained
for the members of the Idle
wise club at her home on D
Street Friday evening having
guests for two tables of bridge.1
A dessert course preceded play,
and Mrs. Edd F. Gardner, pres
dent, presided for a short bus
iness session to discuss some
plans for the club. High and low
score prizes in the game went
to Mrs. Boyd Stout and Mrs. C.
G. Poindexter. Chrysanthemums
were used for decorations.

Entertains At Bridge
Mrs. W. T. Long was hostess
to the members of her bridge
club at her home in Wilkesboro
Friday evening and a number of
visitors. Bridge, played at four
tables, was followed by a salad
course. Mrs. M. G. Edwards re
ceived the prise for high score
within the club,% Mrs. J. H. Har
ris among the visitors, and the
bingo award -went to Mrs. Bon
Perkins. Mrs. Jim Phillips, the
former Miss Lucille Scroggs, was
remembered with a gift.
Mrs. L. H. Snyder
Entertains Her Club
Mrs. L. H. Snyder entertained
for the members of the Round
Table club and two efctra guests.
Mrs. Jeanne Brzostowskl and
Mrs. Dick Gwyn, at her home on
D Street Friday afternoon. A
dessert course was served at
the beginning of the game of
bridge played at two tables.
Mrs. Brzostowskl and Mrs.
Arthur Venable tied for high
scores, and each received a gift.
Mrs. Fred Emerson received the
prizes for low score and bingo.

I welcomed into the club as a new
member. In the absence of the
president, Mrs. S. L. Pardue,
Mrs. Monroe Eller was in charge
of the business session. Plans
were made for the Christmas
party to be held at the home of
Mrs. Gilbert Pardue with Mes
dames Elledge and J. O. Emerson
hostesses. Following a period of
sewing and conversation the
hostess served refreshments.

Children Have
Weiner Roast

kesboro First Methodist church
were given a weiner roast Wed
nesday afternoon in the base
ment of the educational . build
ing. Around twenty were present
and enjoyed stories and games
directed by Mrs. Harold Sturdi
vant, superintendent of the de
partment, after which the re
freshments were served. Assist
ing Mrs. Sturdivant with the en
tertainment of the children were
Mrs. Weaver Starr, Mrs. Joe H.
Parson, Mrs. D. L. Derrick, and
Miss Jo Ann Byers.
Lois Ellen Handy
Celebrates Birthday
Mrs. L. J. Handy, of London,
Ky., who with her family was
here on a visit with relatives,
entertained at a children's party
at the home of Mrs. Handy's
mother, Mrs. D. G. Wiles, on
Saturday afternoon honoring her
little daughter, Lois Ellen, on
her fourth birthday anniversary.
Around sixteen boys and' girls
came to celebrate the occasion
with Lois Ellen and were direct
ed in some games and contests.
The white birthday cake, topped
with four pink candles, was
served with ice cream. The hon
oree received lots of nice gifts,
and favors for the children were
pink and blue plastic baskets
filled with candy.
Euzelian S. S, Class
Largely Attended
Thirty-three members attend
ed the monthly meeting of the
Euzelian Class of the First Bap
tist church held Tuesday evening
at the home of Mrs. Claude Can
ter with Mesdames James Ken
erly, J. H. Sowder, Bill Johnson,
and Bill Miller as co-hostesses.
Miss Marceal Deal led the devo
tions with the prayer being of
fered by Mrs. Homer Brookshire.
Mrs. J. H. Armfield directed the
program taken from the book,
"Abundant Living," being as
sisted by Mrs. Clint Foster, who
gave Steps in Overcoming In
sincerity, and Mrs. T. O. Crowell
gave a talk on Prayer.
Mrs. Allie Hayes, the presi
dent, was in charge of the bus
iness session when plans were
made for the Christmas party to
be held at the Woman's club
house, .the date of the next
regular meeting, December 13.
During the social hour games
were directed by Mrs. Eddie
Morrison, Mrs. Clyde Waugh,
and Mrs. Crowell, after which
the hostess group served re
freshments.

Has Mission Study
The circles of the Woman's
Society of Christian Service and
the Wesleyan Service Guild of
the Wilkesboro Methodist church
held a mission study class at
the Community House in Wilkes
boro Tuesday evening. The book,
'Japan, Begins Again" was pre
sented by Mrs. N. O. Smoak and
Mrs. M. M. Brame, Jt. During a
short intermission refreshments,
carrying suggestions of the Jap
anese motif, were served to the
large number of members at
tending.
