She was the daughter of John and Lydla Shipwash, both of Wilkes county. In 1902 she was married to William Ernest Long, of Stokes- ; dale, N. C., and has resided in Wilkes county a great part of j the time since. < At an early age she professed faith and joined the White 1 Plains Baptist church. Later, i after moving to North Wilkes- : boro, she was active for manyl years in church work there. I When the Arbor Orove church was founded in her home com munity she then moved her membership there. In October 1946, she suffer ed a stroke and had been con fined to her bed a great part of that time. On Saturday, Novem ber 5, 1949, she had another stroke and steadily became worse until November 9. She passed away at nine o'clock p. m. ' ' Mrs. Long is survived by one sister, Mrs. Nancy E. Brewer, of Lakeland, Fla., her husband, of Roaring River, two daughters, Mrs. Leah Pope and Mrs. R. M. Secretory Bronnon Proclaims Burley Tobacco Quoto '50 Secretary of Agriculture Chas. F. Brannan has proclaimed a 1950 national marketing quota tor Burley tobacco of 496,000, 900 pounds. On Saturday, November 26, Burley tobacco growers of Wilkes county will vote in a national referendum to determine (1) whether they approve market ing quotas for the 1950, 1951, and 1962 crop years, (2) wheth er they oppose for the three years but favor quotas.for 1950, or (3) whether they disapprove quotas for the 3 years. Market ing quotas cannot be in effect unless they are approved by at least two-thirds of the growers voting in the referendum. In a similar referendum held Oct. 25, 1946, 95.9 per cent of the 135, 326 Burley tobacco growers vot ing favored quotas on the 1947, 1948 and 1949 crops. Dr. C. G. Singer Will Preach Here Dr. C.
