In a crusade that was virtual ly one-man, he placed Indian arrowhead markers from Vir ginia Beach to San Francisco. He began his life's work in Mocksdille in 1925, with only $25 in his pockets. When he returned from the Pacific Coast six months later all the markers had been paid for by memberships in the Boone Memorial Association j and Mr. Rich's $25 had grown to $300. In 1945 he was clerk-librar ian in the State Senate. One other interest in his life was the Boys Road Patrol of North Car olina, a safety-promoting or ganization of which he became a director in 1915.
