SOCIETY /v\ciNeiis tntertain Euzelian Class Of Pleasant Home Tho TCuxelian Class of Pleas ant Horns Baptist church met on December 8, at the home of Mrs. Howard McNeil with Miss Irene McNeil as co-hostess. Twenty-eight members and three guests were present The presi dent. Mrs. Ceoil Kilby, was in charge. Appropriate scripture was read by the teacher of the class, Mrs. O. V. Yannoy. Devo tlonals were given by Mrs. Allie McGlamery. A trlo^ composed of Misses Evelyn Injhjbert, Treva Elledge and ShirWfb McNeil gang "Silent Night," "While Shep herds Watched Their Flock _ By Night," and "Joy to The World." Several interesting contests were conducted by the hostesses and prizes were won by Mrs. Clate Bumgarner, Mrs. Charlie Bishop and Miss Grace Whittington. Re-1 vealed were our secret pals for 1949, when each guest received' & gift with the name of the giv er. Names were drawn for the following year. Mrs. A. T. Nich ols dismissed us with l?rayer. The McNeil home was beau-' tifully decorated for the Christ-! mas season?which was also # car ried out in the' delicious refresh ments served by the hostesses,1 who were assisted by Mrs. Mc Neil's daughter. Shirley and Misses Treva Elledge and Eve lyn Inglebert.?Reported. Ex Libris Club Has Christmas Party Ex Libris club members held their annual Christmas party! Monday evening and had as spe- | cial guests, their husbands. The group met at the Wilkes Hotel for a three course dinner served at seven o'clock, at one long table beautifully decorated in keeping with the Christmas sea son. A poinsetta served as cen terpiece for the table, lighted by red and green candles in alter-' nating heights, and at each place was an attractive Santa Claus. Following the dinner thej couples assembled at the home' of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Deal' where the club members made( an exchange of gifts, and pre sented to their husbands amus ing toys. - , . I Legion Auxiliary In Monthly Meeting The American Legion Auxil iary met for its December meet ing Monday evening at the home of Mrs. H. C. Landon with Mrs. L. M. Nelson, Mrs. W. J. Bason, Misses Ellen Robinson and Eliza beth Flnley as associate hos tesses. Following the opening exercises Mrs. R. O. Finley, the president, occupied the chair for a number of interesting reports. Mrs. Pittman, the rehabilitation chairman, read notes of thanks from a number of boys at Oteen, and the Auxiliary voted to send to the eight veterans in their ward Wilkes county apples for Christmas. Mrs. W. #R. Absher, welfare chairman, reported that help had been given to two fam ilies, and each one attending the meeting brought used cloth ing to be given to veteran's wives and children. It was also voted to give a basket of canned food to a Gold Star Mother, and $10.00 to the T. B. Association. Mrs. Cecil Adamson, leader for the Woodlawn Girl Scout Troop, had on display a dish garden the girls had made, a number of orders were given for these dishes, the proceeds to be used in the Scout work. During the social hour the hostesses served tempting le freshments. Idlewise Club Met With Mrs. Sfout Bridge was played at three tables when Mrs. Boyd Stout en tertained for the members of the Idlewise club and some visitors at her home on Trogdon Street Friday evening. Top score prize for club members went to Mrs. Frank Tomlinson and for the visitors to Mrs. Ivey Moore. Mrs. E. S. Kendricks-received the bin go award. A dessert course was served at the beginning of play SOCIAL CALENDAR The Senior Woman's club of North Wilkesboro will meet Monday afternoon, three o'clock, at the Woman's clubhouse with the following as hostesses, Mesdames Jack Swofford, Joe j E. Johnson, E. N. Phillips, Hyde Waller, J. Floyd Woodward, R. S. Gibbs, W. G. Gabriel, R. G. Finley, Thurmond Kenerly, and W. F. Gaddy. Mrs. R. T. McNiel is chair man of the program which features Youth Month. Under the direction of Mrs. Robin Wooten some members of the high school dramatic and glee clubs will give a Christmas Pageant. The Junior Woman's club will meet Monday evening, eight o'clock, at the clubhouse. The hostess group incudes Mes dames Ralph Buchan, Ray Watts, Conrad Kilby, William Lewis, J. C. Jones, Phil For ester, Misses Corinne Faw and Nellie GabrieL The Irene Culler circle of Wilkesboro Methodist church will have a Christmas party Friday, December 16, 7:39 p. m., at the home of Mrs. Marion Elliot.
