Mrs. Pearl Gregory, of New York City, will arrive soon to spend the Christmas holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Barnett, of Gilreath. Mr. and Mrs. James M. Ander son, Jr., arrived Wednesday from Avon Park, Florida, to spend a week here with Mi. Anderson's father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. James M. Ander son. Mr. R. L. Abernethy lost three fingers on his left hand Friday . when his hand was caught in a J bench saw at Ralph Frazier's lumber plant here. | Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Barnett and; Miss Pearl Barnett. of Gilreath.j I were nuests Sunday of Mr. and j ' Mrs. T. W. Chatham, of North Wilkesboro route three. Mrs. U. W. Foster, who has ! been ill for several days, has returned home and is now im | proving, friends are glad to learn. ? Mr. L. B. Pierce, who has been critically ill for the past few weeks, is now a patient at Baptist hospital in Winston-Sal em. Little change is reported in I his condition. I Mr. and Mrs. D. T. Trivette ! left Tuesday to spend a few j weeks with their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Kuen ' zel and two children, at Miami, Fla. Mrs. Mary Moore Hix is a pa tient at the Memorial Hospital in Asheville. She was taken ser iously ill Saturday evening. Some improvement has been reported in her condition. Mr. J. W. Church, 83-year old resident of the Summit com munity, is confined to his home because of illness. Recently he underwent an operation at a hospital in Winston-Salem. Corporal Arnold G. Pruitt, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Pruitt, of 207 Mercer Street, Princeton, Wr Va., is returning home for leave and re-assignment after a 12 months tour of overseas duty ir Okinawa. He was assigned as supply sergeant to the Head quarters Detachment of the 226th Ordnance Base Depot, a unit of the Army of Occupation in the Ryukyus Command. A graduate of Wilkesboro high school, Cpl. Pruitt served in the Pacific theatre during World War II. Prior to re-enlistlng in the Army at Fort Jackson, S. C., last year, he was employed by the Standard Oil Company of Los Angeles, California. His wife, Kathleen, and their chil dren, Tommy, 9, and Barbara Ann 3, reside at 207 Merce; Street, Princeton, W. Va. Mr. Robert Brame, Mr. BUI Brame and their mother, Mrs. R. M. Brame, attended funeral serv ices held for Mr. Arthur C. Mock at the Lewisville Methodist | church Wednesday morning. Banner motored to Winston-Salem yes terday to meet their son, Mr. B. B. Banner, Jr., a student "of State College, Raleigh, who has returned Jiome for the Christmas holidays. Mrs. Finley Joines is now convalescing at her home in Wilkesboro after undergoing treatment at the Wilkes Hospital for a broken hip.
