No Action On High Point Power Project Washington, Dec. 13.?Any government action on the High Point hydroelectric power pro ject will be held in abeyance un til June 30, to give High Point a chance to decide what it will do in the matter. Representative Thurmond Chatham'8 office was informed by letter today that there is no change in the government atti tude toward the proposal. Gener al Services Administration does not intend to continue the pro ject. The proposed dam, on , the Yadkin River near Clemmons, dates back to Public Works Ad ministration days. The letter to Chatham's office came in reply to a query on the status of the proposal. Questions arose when resi dents in the area asked the State Highway Commission to black top roads in the vicinity of the proposed dam site. The depart ment would not act, it was said, until the project status wa3 cleared. The letter to Chatham was from J. W. Follin, special assist ant to the administrator of Gen eral Services Administration, successor of PWA. Follin wrote Chatham that "local people should not be de prived of road improvements with any thought that consum mation of this project is imme-i diate." However, Follin stressed that this was merely an opinion based on an assumption that it would take the City of High Point a long time to carry out any pro ject of the kind contemplated, even if it found the means to do so. C Mwim 916-R Wife Who Felt 'Persecuted' Kills Fomily And Herself Pendleton. ? A 53-year-old farmer's wife, suffering from a persecution complex, yesterday calmly shot her husband and son to death and then took her own life. The three were found dead in their beds at their farm house near this tiny Northeastern North Carolina town on the Vir ginia border. Northampton County Coroner James T. Buffaloe ruled the deaths were "premeditated mur der and suicide". He identified the victims as Mrs. Roberta L. Stephenson, her husband, B. D. Stephenson, 69, a Northampton farmer, and their son, B. Coley Stephenson, 29, a World War II veteran. The coroner said Mrs. Steph enson evidently had been study ing plans for the triple slaying for some time. A marked copy of a book on the most effective way to kill wild game waB found in the big farmhouse, along with several notes and a dis charged .22 calibre rifle. Buffaloe reported that Mrs. Stephenson had been in ill health for several months. The notes, he said, indicated that she believed she was being persecut ed by her husband and son and that "she had to end it all." The coroner reconstructed the chain of events in this manner: husband about midnight as he lay sleeping in a twin bed in their bedroom. She then waited until shortly after 3 a. m. when her son, who had been out on a date, returned to his adjoining bedroom. Once he was asleep, without knowledge of his fa ther's death, she entered his room and shot him. She then returned to lyar bed and shot herself. - ? " " All three were shot behind the ear, the bullets entering the brain of each. The coroner said the home was orderly arranged and show ed no signs of a struggle. Ono note designated her husband's brother, H. W. Stephenson, as administrator of their estate. Another said that family heir looms and other valuables could be found in a Boykins, Va., bank. Joint funeral services will be conducted today for all three. One daughter, Mrs. Margaret Mc Lean, of Lenoir, is among the survivors.
