Episcopal Auxiliary In Monthly Meeting The December meeting of the Episcopal Auxiliary was held on Tuesday evening at the home ol Mrs. Dudley Hill on Fifth Street with her daughter, Miss Bettye Hill, as associate hostess. Mrs. L. B. Dula led the devotions, Mrs. Monroe Williams told the storj of "The Other Wise Man," and Mrs. Paul Harvel, Jr., was in charge of the business session. Mrs. F. C. Hubbard Jr. Entertains Her Club - Mrs. Fred C. Hubbard, Jr., en tertained for the members of the 8th Column club at her home in Forest Hills Wednes day evening. Top score prize, in the bridge game played at two tables, went to Mrs. Russell Gray, Jr. A salad course was served at the conclusion of play. Woman's Bible Class Has Christmas Party ? The members of the Woman's Bible <class of the First Metho dist church, with their husbands as guests, held their annual Christmas party at the home of Mrs. J. D. Moore, Sr., Friday evening. Rev. Russell L. Young, pastor of the church, offered the invocation for the covered dish supper served at six-thirty o'clock. After the supper the class mem bers exchanged gifts, and reveal ed their "Big Sisters" for the past year. The men also had gifts for each other. Christmas decorations made a colorful set ting for the party. During a short business ses sion presided over by the presi dent. Mrs. Isaac Eller, Sr., class officers for the new year were read, and are as follows: presi dent, Mrs. Eller; vice president, Mrs. J. M. Crawford; secretary, Mrs. J. R. Hix; treasurer, Mrs. Scott Kenerly; teacher, P. J. Brame; and assistant teacher, Mrs. Russell L. Young. Approxi mately forty were present. Mrs. J. Q. Adams Entertains Her Club The Christmas party for the Tea and Topic club was given by Mrs. J. Q. Adams at her home on F Street Thursday evening. The party appointments and the salad course, served at the close of the rook game played at two tables, carried suggestions of the Christmas season. In the serving the hostess was aided by Mrs. Bill Phillips. Mrs. Gordon Finley received the award for high score, also the traveler's prize, and Miss Norma Stevenson the low score award. Wilkesboro Woman's club enjoyed a Christ mas party held Thursday eve ning at the Community House with Mesdames Lawrence Miller, A.. R'. Gray, Sr., E. E. Vaught, George Parlier, James Osborne, and Presley Myers as hostesses. The social committee composed of Mesdames Albert Garwood, George Parlier, and James Os borne, presented members of the Wilkesboro high school Glee * Club, who sang several numbers being directed by Ms. C. T. Doughtoiv and accompanied at the piano by Mrs. R. E. Pre vette. The committee in charge of the evening's entertainmeut also directed some contests. During a short business ses sion presided over by the presi dent, Mrs. W. T. Long, the club voted to assist in the cancer clinic. Two new members Mrs. H. A. Cranor and Mrs. T. . L. Tobias, were welcomed into the club. Gifts were exchanged a round a lighted Christmas tree and refreshments were served during the social hour. e Sans Souci Club Met With Miss Harris The members of the Sans Souci club were entertained by Miss Zelle Harris at her home at Roaring River Thursday eve ning. High and second high score prizes, in the bridge game played at two tables, were won by Mrs. J. Floyd Woodward and Mrs. R. H. Shell. Refreshments and an exchnage of gifts follow ed play.
