Ramblers Defeat
Fast Sparta Boys;
Sparta Girls Win
Wilkesboro high school boys
defeated one of the strongest
teams of the Highland conference
at Wilkes bo ro Tuesday night
srhen they bumped off the fast
stepping Sparta hoys 39 to 31. It
sras the sixth straight Yicory for
the Wilkeeboro boys since the
Christmas holidays.
Sparta girls, continuing their
nnbeaten pace, downed the Wil
keeboro girls 53 to 28. Jarvis
with 12 and Byrd with 10 led
Wllkesboro scoring.
Dean Edwards ran up 15 points
for Wilkeeboro to continue his
high scoring pace and John Oar
wood hit for the same number
as he was highly accurate on
set shots. The Ramblers had
rolled up a 26 to 15 lead by half
time, withstood a Sparta surge
in the third period and went on
to win.

32, but in the boys' game Barium
won 54 to 18 as the North Wil
kesboro boys were unable to
solve the defense. Nancy Wood
ruff was high scorer for North
Wilkesboro in the girls' game
with 12 and Stricklin led for the
winners with 26. In the boys'
game Carl Swofford led Moun
tain Lions' scoring with 5 and
Hall was high for Barium with
18.
