Little Symphony Members Are Given A Buffet Supper Following the appearance of the North Carolina Little Sym phony here in the public school auditorium oa Thursday evening the Music committee of the Jun ior Woman's elub entertained at a buffet supper at the Woman's clubhouse honoring the members of _ihe orchestra Other guests for the supper were members of r the Junior Woman's club and the Jaycees, sponsors for the con cert, and their husbands and wires. The elubhouse was at tractively decorated in mixed spring blossoms donated by Hen derson's Flower-Shop. On each mantle was a huge bouquet, also on the main table, which was spread with a white embroidered cut-work cloth. The guests were seated at small tables, and the open fires added much to the cheerful setting. Coffee was poured by Mrs. Wil liam C. Marlow and Mrs. J. M. Derr. - j Miss Norma Fender And Mr. Pickler To Wed In June Sparta, March 4.—Mr, and Mrs. I. C. Pender of Sparta hare announced the engagement of their daughter, Norma, to Ger ald F. Pickler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Horace F. Pickler of Bur lington. The wedding Is being planned as an event of June. Miss Fender, who attended Ap palachian State Teachers College at Boone, Is teaching In North Wllkesboro high school. Mr. Pickler, who also attended Ap palachian State, is now engaged in construction work at Burling ton. Mrs. J. B. Zimmerman Entertains Her Club The members of the Sans Soucl club were entertained by Mrs. J. S. Zimmerman at her home on B Street Thursday evening. A dessert course was served at the beginning of the bridge game, played at two tables. Mrs. Boyd Stout and Mrs. Gordon Forester, visitors of the club, received the high and second high score pris es, and Mrs. Forester and Mrs. [ R. H. Shell the bingo awards. ] Mrs. Ivey Moore Is Bridge Club Hostess Mrs. Ivey Moore entertained for the members of the Round Table club at her home on Kensington Avenue Friday after noon, and had three additional gueets, Mrs. Doris T. Brown, Mrs. Guy LAllard, and Mrs. Carl Van Deman. The guests on arrival were served a salad coarse with sweets, the hostess being aided by her sister, Mrs. Bffie Bum garner. Prizes in the g&me of bridge, played at two tables, went to Mrs. Jack Swofford for high score, to Mrs. Brown for low score, and to Mrs. Ray Hoof er for bingo. Mrs. Joe H. Pearson Entertains Her Club A delightful club party of the week was the one given by Mrs. Joe H. Pearson at her home in Wilkesboro Friday evening en tertaining for the Tea and Topic members and four extra guests, Mesdames N. B. Smithey, Flake Cook, Presley Myers, and Frank Tomlinson. A buffet supper pre ceded the game of rook played at three tables. Mrs. Ira Payne hel<| the traveller's prize, Mrs. Cordon Finley and Mrs. I. E. Pearson were winners of the high and low score prizes. A bouquet of yellow jonquils and breath-of-spring, surround ed by candles in pastel shades, made & centerpiece for the din ing table spread with a pink cloth. Forsythia and white can dles were used on the buffet. Hand-painted tallies carrying de signs of yellow jonquils and made by Miss Jane Pe&rson. daughter of the hostess, further ed the spring note in the party appointments. Several prises were awarded in bingo and Patricia received lots of lovely gifts.' Mrs. Ray Barnes Honored On Birthday Mr. and Mrs. John Crawford and Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Foster were hosts at a surprise birth day party Saturday evening al the Crawford home north of th€ city honoring Mrs. Ray Barnes, of North Wilkesboro. The guests, numbering around thirty, includ ed mostly family members, who were directed in a number of in teresting games. Mrs. Barnes, a sister of Mrs.. Crawford and Mr, Foster, received a shower o t lovely gifts. The-hostesses served refreshments at the close of the evening. Mrs. Buchanan Entertains Her Gub Mrs. Claude Buchanan was hostess to the members of the Handiwork club at her home on D Street Friday evening.
