K Class of the First Baptist church will meet Tuesday evening, 7:80 o'clock, at the home of Mrs. George Campbell. n LOCALS Mr. John Deal returned to hlB home in Richmond, Va., several days ago after visiting with Mr. W. B. Pharr and othei- friends in Wilkesboro. Mr. Deal is a brother of the late Editor Bob Deal of The Chronicle. Mr. and Mrs. Thor Wanless, of Springfield, 111., arrived here Wednesday for a short visit with Mrs. Wanless's parents, Judge and Mrs. Johnson J. Hayes. On Sat urday they left for Miami.. Fla., where they will spend abou,» three weeks. Miss Rebecca Hayes, a student at Greensboro College, another daughter of Judge and Mrs. Hayes came home Thursday and was here the remainder of the week. A number of people from here went to Winston-Salem last Sat urday evening to attend Robert Shaw's Chorale given in Reynolds Auditorium under the auspices of the Community Concert Associa tion. Among those going down were Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Adam son, Mesdames L. M. Nelson, C. Don Coffey", Jr., Dan Carter, R. G. Flnley, A- F. Kilby, C. T. Dough ton, G. T. Mitchell, H. B. Smith, J. S. Deans, R. S. Gibbs, Misses Jane Carter, Elisabeth Finley, Lois "Scrogga, Martha Lou Fra zier, Ruby Blackburn, Rebecca Raper, Carolyn Deans, Christine and Doris Ann Gobey, Sarah Jane Soraervk* Mrs. Tom T. Foster, Hyatt ind Thomas Finley. Messrs. Peter Marovel, of uchusetts, and John Branch, of Richmond, Va., who performed in' Robert Shaw's Chorale given in Wljnston-Salem last Saturday In the Reynolds auditorium under thtf auspices of the Community Concert Association, were guests last Sunday of Miss Martha Lou Frailer. Mr. Marovel, a bass baritone, and Mr. Branch, who plays the viola, In the orchestra, students at the Juilllard School of Music in New York City, were at Juilllard while Miss Frailer was attending the school, as well! as a number of other members' or the Chorale. The visitors were accompanied to Wlnston=Salem Sunday afternoon by Miss Frailer and Miss Lola Scroggs, and from there they went on to High Point for the next concert.
