Ushers were John Tug and Russell McLean, both North Wilkeaboro. Mrs. Lewis graduated from the [Wilkeeboro high school. For the [ past two years she has been em ployed in Washington, D. C. by the government. Mr. Lewis attended Richmond high school in Richmond, Vermont. 1 He is now serving with the army at Port Belvoir, Virginia. The couple will make their heme in Alexandria, Virginia. o— Support Cancer Fund Local Women Attend Lenoir Luncheon Mrs. Edd P. Gardner and Mrs. Frank Tomllnaon attended a luncheon in Lenoir Thursday at the home of 'Mrs. K. M. Estep, which was given' by the three Gar den clubs, of Lenoir, the Green ■Thumb, the Hibrltei^ and the Lenoir. Guests at the luncheon were member of the Executive board' of the above clubs. Mrs. Gardner, director of district two, gave the members attending the luncheon some suggestions for their year's work, and also at the meeting some plans were dis cussed for the district meeting which Is to be held in Lenoir this fall, Oct. 18th. (International) Two Brides-Elect Feted At Shower The women of the Moravian Falls Baptist church entertained at a miscelleaneous shower at the Community House last Fri day evening honoring Miss Ann Lee Brown, who on Sunday was married to Edward Lewis, and Miss Patsy Hawkins, who on Wednesday, June 28, is to be married to Rev. Dean L. Minton, pastor of the church. Around fifty were present and at the close of the evening enjoyed de lightful refreshments. The honor ees, who were presented with corsages, received many useful and lovely gifts. The two tables for the brides-tq-be, were spread with white lace cloths over pink covers, and centered with Jap anese floral umbrellas under which were placed their gifts. On the mantel was a bowl of pink roses about which white candles gleamed in silver holders, and pink flowers predominated in other decorations for the event. Mrs. DeBerry Hostess To Executive Board Mrs. W. M. DeBerry held a meeting of the Executive board ol the Woman's Society of Christian Service^, of the Wilkesboro Metho dist church at her home here or D Street Friday evening. Mrs. De Berry, president of the Society, oc cupied the chair during the busi ness session at which time plans were outlined for- the new year in the Society. Most of the mem bers were present and at the close of the meeting the hostess serv ed refreshments. Oakwoods W.M.S. In Monthly Meeting Mrs. Everette Lowe was hostee to the members of the Woman' Missionary Society Of the Oak woods Baptist Church Frida; evening. Miss Nora Lowe, president had charge of business session am led the devotional. Mrs. Archie Anderson ha< charge of the program, which wa: "On the Rock or on the Rocks.' Discussions were given by Mrs Glenn Anderson, Mrs. Everetti Lowe, Mrs. J. M. Canter and Misi Nora Laws. Two songs were sung by th< group, followed with closing pray er. Refreshments were served dur ing the social hour. The July meeting will be held with Mrs. Archie Anderson at her home, ra * p x * Miss. Eloise Starr Entertains Her Club A, delightful club meeting was the one given Friday evening when Miss Eloise Starr entertained for the members of her bridge club at her home In Wllkesboro. The top score prize In the game, played at two tables, went tg Mrs. A. R. Gray, St., and the bingo award to Mrs. M. G. Edwards.
