The Wilis party is the "Compro mise," American Union party, pursuing with steady aim the gulden mean, steering, like the skillful mariner, with equal prudence and success, from the Scyila of Abolitionism anil Freesoilism on Uie one hand, and from tlie Charybdis of Disunion and Se cession 011 the other. Its aim is that of the true patriot, to avoid all ultraisms, having in view the prosperity aud welfare of the whole country with out regard to section. In matters of State policy, while the "Spectator" will be devoted more particularly to Western inter ests, it will be couducted in a spirit of justice and fairness towards tho other sections of the State ; indeed, the Editor can see no good reason why Eastern aud Western North Carolina should uot move on in concord and harmony, in the advocacy of such measures of internal improvement, and State reform, as may redound to Uie lasting inter ests of both sections. It is only by the united ac tion of both eastern and western men that the Old North State can be aroused from her long slumber, aud become, as nature intended her, physically as she already is morally, one of the greatest of the sister States. Hence, the subject of Internal Im provements will occupy a conspicuous place in the columns of the "Spectator. n The undersigned would address himself to his friends, and the friends of the Whig cause general ly throughout the State, and request them to co operate with him, in disseminating true conserva tive W'hig doctrines, by subscribing to his paper and inducing others to do tbe same. C The roprietress of this well known and profitable establishment, having realized a sufficient income to warrant her in resuming the quiet of private life offers to the public generally the opportunity of bidding for its advantages. . The citizens of the State are so well acquainted with the advantages of its position, that but few re marks are necessary, to complete their information. The Hotel, itself, possesses all tho requirements of room and comfort, which its purchasers can de sire. It has capacity for the accommodation'of one hundred and fifty boarders, and the recent and rap id growth of the Universitj-, adjacent, makes it an easy1 matter to possess constantly such or even a greater number of students. In addition to this, the frequent, travel through Chapel Hill gives the Hotel, (being the only one in the place) a transient custom equal to any in the State. The lots and stables adjoining are extensive and commodious and the country-market supplies abun dantly and on profitable terms much of its provi sions. The terms of sale require one third of the price to be paid on taking possession. A note with? safe security and time of payment suited to thq conven ience of the purchaser, are the reasonable demands for the remainder. If further information be desired concerning the inducements to purchase, the President of the Uni versity or any other resident of the village, will fur nish it.
