Compound fluid Extract of Sarsaparilla.
This preparation is offered as a substitute for
the many preparations put out under the same
name, which are for the most part absolutely
worthless, being entirely destitute of the active
virtues of the root, and, by being prepared in an
unskilful manner and from inert materials, are
highly injurious, and seriously impair the health
of the patient.
We have received numerous testimonials, ex
pressing in the strongest terms the great efficacy
of this medicine, and its superiority over other
preparations of Sarsaparilla.
Physicians can prescribe it with the utmost con
fidence, retying upon its uniform strength, and that
it is prepared from the best material.
It has elicited from the most eminent of the Fac
ulty in Philadelphia, who have employed it, fre
quent expressions of commendation, at the unva
rying success attending its administration, produ
cing the most satisfactory and beneficial results.
It is highly recommended for the removal aujf

Scrofula or King's Evil, Rheumatism, Syphilit

Important Express Notice I ! t .
Beware of ImjKtsilio'n and Humbug Monopoly t
TT7E feel called upon, prompted by a sens of
f Y duty to the public and ourselves, to caufiea
the numerous Patrons and Friends or Parise
& King's Express, throughout Virginia, Nortk ,
Carolina and Tennessee, against "Hard Bills"
and Advertisements, issued by a certain Express
Company, long known to the MerchanUvof tko
South, (especially Virginia and North Carolina,)
as the "tardy and exorbitant monopoly."
This fast Express wishes to impress upon tits
mind of the public, that they have effected ar
rangements for EXCLUSIVE EXPRESS PRIVI
LEGES on the Steamships. Roanoke and Jsmes
town, and thus lead the public to suppose thai no
other Express can run en the ships..,. To settle
this matter definitely, and to place it- in its trwe
light before the pub'ic at large,,we will only say,
that we have been running our Express on th
Steamship "ROANOKE" since sbe made her sec
ond trip, aud will continue to run until she makes
her last trtp; and, on the 16th inst, will mako our
first Express shipment on board the new and mag'
nificent Steamship "JAMESTOWN," and which
Expresses wiU be under the charge of OUR, OWN:
SPECIAL MESSENGERS. Freight and Package,
will be taken, and delivered with , oar usual
promptness, and at- the same low rates as hereto
fore which will be at least 40 per cent be ow the
charges of the Self-sttled Exclusive Express
Compant, as we are aware they must do a large
business, and their patrpns pay big prices, for the
privilege of having a small room on board, the
ships, lor which P ARISEN & KING offered the '
sum of ($47,000) Forty-Seven Thousand DdUart tat
a five years contract
YVe will again and lastly state to the public and
our patron.', that as OUR interests are largely
identified w ith the . Increasing enterprise of .the
South, and the general direction of the business
under the personal superintendence of one of the
firm, who permanently resides in Petersburg, Vs.,
we call for a continuation of that liberal patronage
as heretofore conferred upon us, and a general
support of that principle and system ef ECONOMY,
PUNCTUALITY and EXPEDITION,, as first intro
duced in the Express by us, and upon which afl
may depend on its being carried out to the letter.
