- THE Institution is located in one ef the m4t
healthful sections of Eastern Carolina.
Its eleventh session will commence on the second
Wednesday of October, 1853.
The Domestic Department will bo conducted by
the Rev. J. R. Garlick and Lady of Va.
Ample provision will be made for warm and cold
bathing, and other preservatives of health. Tho
Primary Department will bo re-organiied, and
placed under the care of a suitable Teacher.
. Tho Institute has a Library, a Reading Room,
and a Cabinet of Miner s. The Chemical, Astro
nomical and Philosophical Apparatus is not surpas
sed by that of any similar Institution in the Seuth.
The Literary Society of the Institute sustains a
monthly Periodical which is read at the regular
meetings of tho Society. Extensive courses of
lectures are delivered, accompanied with experi
mental illustrations The Music doparment is fur
nished with ten new and very superior instruments
"ahdis conducted by a gentleman Teacher, aided
by four lady colleagues. Musical Soirees are held
monthly. - There is also a large and valuable Or
gan for daily religious services. The Bible is re
gularly studied, and throughout the whole course,
regard is had to the moral culture of tho Student.
The young ladies do not visit the stores nor Post
Office, but make all purchases through the agency
of"friends. 'All letters received pass through tho
hands of the Principal," and where there is suspi
cion of a clandestine correspondence, the letters
are sent unopened to the Parent or Guardian. Tho
Students do not go abroad without a proper attendant.-
"They are not allowed to visit, nor to receive
calls, nor to attend any exhibition without permis
sion from the PrincipaL , They attend divine ser
vice on tho Sabbath at such place as the Parent or
Guardian may direct." To prevent rivalry in dress,
a simple uniform is prescribed. . There are two ses
sions commencing on the 2d Wednesdays of Octo
ber and March. The vacation is from the last
Thusday in July to the 2d "Wednesday in October.
Students can enter at any time and are charged
accordingly. No deduction for tuition will bo made
after entering,' except in cases of protrated illness,
when one half the bill wi l be deducted. Parents
and Guardians are earnestly requested not to bring
no remove young ladies on the Sabbath.

PANY. T FT HIS Company, as its name indicates, is upon
I the iiiutual principle, and embraces two dis
tinct departments, to wit : Life Insurance and
Trust departments. This attractive combination
offers to Policy holders double the ordinary securi
ty, without destroying their right to a full participa
tion in me entire protits ot the Company. Premi
uiiis will lc received, in cash, either annually,
semi-annually, or quarterly, as may be agreed up
n at the time the Policy is issued.
In tho TRUST DEPARTMENT, or Deposit Sys
tern, the payments made to the Company are en
tirely optional with the Depositor, as regards the
amount and the time at which they are made. A
party may pay in as much or as little, (not less
than one dollar.) and as often, as may be conve
nient lor him, without any obligation upon him to
continue his payments, and may withdraw them
at his pleasure.
So that, on the plan of this Company, there is
created at one and the same time an assurance pay
Me at death a fund available in sickness and a pro
vision for old age.
