Two of said companies, to consist of forty men each, and the other of twenty men the first two to be known as Fire Companies num ber 1 and 2 and the other as the Hook and Lad der Company in accordance with the provisions of an act of assembly entitled "an act for the bet ter protection of the city of Raltigh from losses by Fire." Fersons disposed to volunteer! as members of i the same will furnish the City , Constiib.es with their names on or before S itur lay, the 25th day of February 18)4, on which day, if the prescrib ed number (100) have not previously volunteered, a draft will be made from the whole number of citizens to supply the deficiency. THIS Company, as its name indicates, is upon the mutual principle, and embraces two dis tiuct departments, to wit : Life Insurauce and Trust departments. This attractive combination offers to Policy holders double the ordinary securi ty, without destroying their right to a full participa tion in the eutire profits of the Company. Premi ums will be received, in cash, either annually, semi-annually, or quarterly, as may be agreed up on at the time the Policy is issued. In the TRUST DEPARTMENT, or Deposit Syi tern, the payments made to the Company are en tirely optional with the Depositor, as regards the amount and the time at which they are made.
