Dr. R. H. WoatHtsoTOK rKA Sib: I take

in favor cf your remedy for Bowel Affections, &c,
having so frequently experienced its beneficial re

to whom I have given it. I carried a bottle of it
with me to Baltimore, (and here permit ma tA-say
I would as soon think of travelling without money
as without this remedy) and finding many among
my acquaintances there who were suffering with
various forms of Bowel Affections, I (rave it freely,
and in K instance did it fail to afford the most

I congratulate you, and especially tho public, on

than any other ever brought before the people.

Db. WoBTHixaTOX Dkab Sib: I take great
pleasure in recommending your Cholera Medicine
to the public and more especially since I have had
personal experience and observation of its benefi

I have tried several remedies put up for Cholera,

from any as from yonr invaluable remedy. I have
such unbounded confidence in its efficacy, that I
am unwilling and will not leave home without a

I have nearly sold what you sent me. I there

Dr. R. H. Worthington's Cholera Mixture to the
public, for the cure of diarrhoea, dysentery, and
other kindred diseases Having experience in my
own case, the happy effects of its use, as well as
other members of my family, I can safely say that
I regard it superior to any remedy we have ever

therefore, recommend ft to every family as an in

This is to certify that I have used Dr. R. H.
Worthington's Cholora medicine in ray family for
the last four or five weeks, in several eases of
Bowel Complaint so common in our vicinity, with
invariable success. One of the cases was that of
negro child, some four or five months old, who
wss so emaciated y the effects of the disease, that
its life was nearly despaired of, when my wife
happened to think that she would, try the Cholera
Medicine, and did so with complete success in less

A Novel. By Miss R. A. DrrtJY. Author of "The
Conspirato r." " Florence ; or the Fatal Vow, '

A novel founded on incidents of Southern life,
and illustrative of many striking pictures of socie
ty in the interior uiutncU or that region. It deals
in forcible contrasts of character which it sets
forth in high-wrought language the style partak
ing more of the fervor and luxuriance of the tropica
than of the severe precision of a colder clime. The
plot includes several situations of exciting interest,
portraying the lurid exhibitions of unbridled pas
sion, in the form c f vengeful and insatiate heat
combined with pictures of the most attractive fea
tures of feinhiiue loveliness. A vivid imagination
glows on every page of the story.

very Urn are the diseases in which a Purgative Medi
cine is not more or less required, sad much sick
neas aad suffering might be prevented, if a harm
tees but eftectual Cathartic were more freely used.
No person can feel wall while a costive habit of
body prevails ; besides it soon generates serious and
often fatal diseases, which nuaht have been avoided
by the timely and judicious use of a good purgative.
Into is alike true of Cold. Feverish i
I uoias, revenan symptoms, auo
Bilious deranaementa. They all ten
nta. They all tend to become or
nrodnee the dean seated and formidable distempers
which load the hearses all over the land. Hence a
reliable family physic is of the first importance to
the public health, aad this Pill has been perfected
with consummate skill to meet that demand. An
extensive trial of its virtues by Phyaiciana, Profea
sora, aad Patients, has shown results surpassing
any thing hitherto known of any medicine. Cures
have been effected beyond benef, were they not sub
stantiated by persons of such exalted position aad
character aa to forbid the suspicion of untruth.
Among the many eminent gentlemen who have
testiaed m raver ef these Tills, we may mention :
Da. A. A. Hatbs, Analytical Chemist of Boston,
and State Aseayer of Massachusetts, whose high
professional character is endorsed by the
How. EnwABn Evbbbtt, Senator of the Tj. S.
Robbbt C. WnriHBor, Ex-Speaker of the House
of Representatives.
Abbott Lawbsvck, Minister Plen. to England,
t Jo ax B. FrTir atbi ex. Cath. Bishop of Boston.
Also, Da. J. R. Chilton, Practical Chemist of
New York City, endorsed by
Hon. W. L. Mabct, Secretary of State,
Wx. B. Astob, the richest man in America.
8. Lzlahd ft Co., Propr's of the Metropolitan
Hotel, and others.
Did space permit we could give many hundred
caroneates. from all parts where the Pffls have
bees need, but evidence eveaAhore convincing than
the experience Af eminent public men is found
in their effects upon trial.
These Pills, the result of long investigation and
study, are offered to the public as the best and
most complete which the present state of medical
science can afford. They are compounded not of
the drugs themselves, but of the medicinal virtues
only of Vegetable remedies, extracted by chemical
process in a state of purity, and combined together
tn such a manner aa to insure the best results. This
system of composition for medicines has been found
in the Cherry Pectoral and Pills both, to produce a
more efficient remedy than had hitherto been ob
tained by any process. The reason is perfectly ob
vious. While by the old mode of composition, ev
ery medicine ia burdened with more or less of acri
monious and injurious qualities, by this each indi
vidual virtue only that is desired for the curative
effect is present All the inert and obnoxious qual
ities of each substance employed are left behind, the
eurative virtues only being retained. Hence it is
self-evident the effects should prove as they have
proved more purely remedial, and the Pills a surer,
more powerful antidote to disease than any other
memcme known to the world.
As it ia frequently expedient that my medicine
should be taken under the counsel of an attending
Physician, and as he could not properly judge of a
remedy without knowing Its composition, I have
supplied the accurate Formula: by which both mv
Pectoral and Pills are made to the whole body of
Practitioners in the United States and British Amer
ican Provinces.. If however there should be any
one who has not received them, they will be
promptly forwarded by mail to his address.
Of all the Patent Medicines that are offered, how
few would be taken if their composition was known !
Their life conaistm in their mystery. I have no
mysteries.
The composition ef my preparations is laid open
to aB men, and all who are competent to judge on
the subject freely acknowledge their convictions
of their Intrinsic merits. The Cherry Pectoral waa
pronounced by L scientific men to be a wonderful
medietne before Its effects were known. Many em
inent Phyaiciana have declared the same thing of
my PObvaad even more confidently, end are w01
tng to certify that their anticipations were more
than realised oy their effects upon trial-
They operate by their powerful influence on the
interaal viscera to purify the blood an 4. stimulate It
into healthy action remove the obstructions of
the stomach, bowels, over, and other organs of the
body, restoring their irregular action to health, and
by correcting, wherever they exist such derange
ments as are the first origin of disease.
Being sugar wrapped they are pleasant to take,
and being purely vegetable, no ham can arise from
their we in any quaatity.
