Sir: It is not my wish to become notorious.
nether is this letter written for the mere sake of
writing, but to say, that your Ointment cured me
of one of the most dreadful cutaneous diseases
that flesh is heir to, and which was considered by
all who knew me, to be entirely beyond the reach
of medicine. For nine years I was inflicted with
oae of the most painful and troublesome sore less
that ever fell to the lot of man'; and after trying

despair all hope of being cured; but a friend
brought me a couple of large pots of yonr Oint

rtlO THE PUBLIC. The subscriber is plessed
to inform the public that his UnUhcKA AW U
DlARRHvEA MEDICINE- affords more prompt
relief in - the various affections of the Bowels, and
consequently more satisfactory to all who have
used it, thau any other Medicine ever offered to
the public. The following are among many testi
monials of its efficacy .
Dr. R. H. WotTHmaTON Dear Sir: I take
much pleasure iu adding my testimony to others
in farer cf your remedy for Bowel Affections, &c,
having so frequently experienced its beneficial re
sults in my own case, as well as in many others
to whom I have given it I carried a bottle of it
with me to Baltimore, (and here permit me to say
I would as soon think of travelling without money
as without this remedy) and finding many among
my acquaintances there who were suffering with
various forms of Bowel Affections I gave it freely,
and in Jfo ixstancr did it fail to afford the most
prompt axd decide rklikf as it has done here.
t congratulate you, and especially the public, on
the discovery of a medicine which is better cslcu
lsted to protect mankind and alleviate suffering
than any other ever brought before tbe people.
L. T- SriERS.
This is to certify that some weeks back, I was
taken with a vJolea Dtarrtama, which persisted for
eight days. Being somdsixtj miles from home,
1 made use of au the remedies 1 could think or,
but without affording any relief! On arriving at
home, I was Informed that Dr. R. II. Worthington
bad prepared a remedy for Cholera, &c, and was
advised to use it I did so, and to my astonish
ment, one single dose gave speedy and permanent
relief, since which time I have used it frequently
in my family ; and, ia justice to the Doctor, say I
consider it much the' most valuable medicine I
have used in an experience of twenty years.

Dr. Worthington Dear Sir: I take great
pleasure in recommending your Cholera Medicine
to the public and more especially since I have had
personal experience and observation of its benefi
cial effects.
I have tried several remedies put up for Cholera,
4c, but have never found such happy results
from any as from yonr invaluable remedy. I have
such unbounded confidence in its efficacy, that 1
am unwilling and will not leave home without a
supply with me; and I regard it as one of the most
valuable discoveries of the age. Yours, very truly,

Windsor, N. C, Sept 19, 1854.
Dr. R. H. Worthinoton Dear Sir . I have
made some effort, and have succeeded in introdu
cing your Melicine to the public, and I find it is
taking very well indeed ; aud the result is, that
I have nearly sold what you sent me. I there
fore, wish you would send me some more as soon
as you can. I have not the slightest
doubt but that this Medicine is the very best reme
dy out for the disease for which it is recommend
ed. I hope you will soon send me a supply, as I
would not like to get entirely out of it

From the Murfreesboro' Gazette
Missss. Editors- Iu looking over the last
number of the Gazette, I found a communication
from our friend. Mr. L. P. Spiers, rcommending
Dr. R. H. WorthingWs Cholera Mixture to the
public, for the cure of diarrhora, dysentery, and
other kindred diseases. Having experience in my
own case, the happy effects of its use, as well as
other members of my family, I can safely say that
1 regard it superior to any remedy we have ever
used, in an experience of twenty years. 1 would.
therefore, recommend it to every family as an in
valuable remedy, and every individual to procure
bottle and keep it by them in these times of
cholera. R. R. PARKER.
Murfreesboro,' Aug. 30th, 1854.
This is to certify that I have used Dr. R. H
Worthington's Cholora medicine in my family for
the last four or five weeks, in several cases of
Bowel Complaint so common in our vicinity, with
invariable success. One of the cases was that of
negro child, some four or five months old, who
was so emaciated by the effects of the disease, that
its life was nearly despaired of, when my wife
happened to think that she would try tbe Cholera
Medicine, and did so with complete success in less
than forty -eight hours. I am throughly of opinion
that no family should be without so fine a medicine

expressing the opinion that it will prove to be a

PRINCE & CO S IMPROVED MELODEONS.
The oldest establishment in the United States.
Employing two- hundred men, and finishing eighty
Instruments per week.
Description or the Melodroh, For the bene
fit of those residing at a distance, and consequent
ly unable to inspect the Melodeon before purchas
ing, we will endeavor to give a short description
of the Instrument The cases are made of rose
wood, and are as handsomely finished as any
piano-forte. The key-board is precisly the same
as the piano or organ, and the tone (which is very
beautiful ) closely resembles that of the flute stop
of the organ the notes speak the instant the keya
are touched, aad will admit of the performance of
as rapid passages as tbe piano. The pedal on the
right supplies the wind, and works so easily that
a child can manage it without any exertion. Tbe
bellows (which is something entirely new and for
which a patent was granted in December, 1849,)
is a reversed or exhaustion bellows and it ia shieJ
in a' measure which producee the peculiar tone.
The volume of tone is equal to that of a small
organ, and by means or tbe swell may be increas- 1
ed or diminished at tbe pleasure of the performer;
it is sufficiently loud for small churches,, and s
well calculated for a parlor instrument Hundreds
have examined them, and all have been load in
their praise ; and the best evidence of their merit
is their rapid sale. But it is a new instrument a
new invention and is yet but little known la tbe
musical world, and it is for this reason that we call
to it the attention of all lovers of music, believ
ing that there are thousands who would lose no time
in securing one, were they aware of the existence
of such an instrument and the low price at which
it could be obtained.
The following letter from Lowell Mason, Bos
ton, to G. P. Reed, we are permitted to use.
Mr. Geo. P. Reed, No. 17 Tremont Row, Boston,
Mass.
Dear Sir At your request, I have examined
one of the MeloJeons manufactured by Messrs.
Geo. A. Princd A Co., of Buffalo. I think them
in all respects equal and in some respects supe
rior to any others of similar kind which I have
seen, and in particular with respect to quality of
tone and promptness of touch, or action 01 tbe
reeds by which quick passages may be performed
with certain and distinct articulation of tone. An
instrument of this kind is the best substitute for
an organ, in church music, with which I am ac
quainted. Lowell Mason.

CAUTION We commenced the manufacture of
the Improved Melodeon in 1847, since which time
we have finished and sold over fourteen Thousand.
During the past three years, we have finished eer
Three Thousand Melodeon per year; we have nearly
completed our arrangements for finishing Four
Thousand annually, l he ceieDrity which our Mel
odeons have attained has induced nearly every
music dealer in the United States and Canada to
apply for the agency ; but as we make but one
Agent in each city or town, many are necessarily
disappointed- Ths result has been that our Name
Plate has been put upon Melodeon which were not
manufactured by us ; and again, (in a few instances
wchch have come to our knowledge) dealers, who
have been unable to obtain oar instruments, have
iacepted the agency of some other manufacturer
keeping on of our instrument which had purposely
been put out of tune, and in had order, as a foil to the
inferior article they offered to the public. For
these reasons we oautioa these bo wish to satisfy
themselves of the merits of our Melodeons to ex
amine those only which are offered by our Agents
or those who deal exclusively is our instruments.
Many improvements applied T9 exclusively our own
ana being the original mannractnrera, oar experi
ence has enabled ns to produce instruments which
a discerning public have pronounced superior to
anything of the kind hitherto manufactured. Many
of the most eminent musicians of the cities of New
York and Boston have voluntarily given testimon
ials as to the high character of of our instruments,
which can be seen oa application, : t
All orders from a distance will be promptly at

AYER'S "PILLS,
A hew and singularly auecessful remedy for the
cure of all Bihous diseases Costiveneas, Indi
gestion, Jaundice, Dropay, Rheumatism, Fevers,
Gout Humors, Nervousness. Irritability, Inflamma
tion. Headache, Pains in the Breast Side, Back,
and Limbs, Female Complaints, Ac, Ac. Indeed,
very few are the diseases in which a Purgative Medi
cine ia not more or less required, and much sick
ness and suffering might be prevented, if a harm
leas but effectual Cathartic were more freely used.
No person can feel well while a costive habit of
body prevails ; beside it soon generates serious and
often fatal diseases, which might have been avoided
by the timely and judicious use of a good purgative.
This is alike true of Colds, Feverish symptoms, and
Bilious derangements. They all tend to become or
produce the deep seated and formidable distempers
which load the hearses all over the land. Hence a
reliable family physic is of the first importance to
the public health, and thia Pill has been perfected
with consummate akill to meet that demand. An
extensive trial of its virtues by Physicians, Pro fea
sor, and Patients, has shawn results surpassing
any ig hitherto known of any medicine. Cures
have been effected beyond belief, were they not sub
stantiated by persons of sueh exalted position and
character as to forbid the suspicion of untruth.
a mnnft the many eminent gentlemen who have
testmedm favor of these Tills, we may mention :
Da. A. A- Hayes, Analytical Chemist of Boston,
aad Scat Asaayer of Massachusetts, whose high
professional character is endorsed by the
How. Edward Everett. Senator of the t. S.
Robrrt C. WiKTwaor, Ex-Speaker of the House
of Representatives.
Abbott Lawrence, Minister Plen. to England,
f J ohm B. Fitxp ATRICX, Cath. BUhopof Boston.
Also, Da. J. R. Chilton, Practical Chemist, of
New York City, endorsed by
Hon. W. L. marct, Secretary of 8tate.
Wm. B. Astor, the richest man in America.
8. Lrland A Co., Propr's of the Metropolitan
Hotel, and others.
Did space permit we eould give many hundred
certificates, from all parts where the Pills have
been need, but evidence even more convincing than
the experience of eminent public men is found
in their effects upon trial.
These Pills, the result of long investigation and
study, are offered to the public as the best and
most complete which tae present state of medical
science can afford. They are compounded not of
the drugs themselves, but of the medicinal virtue
only of Vegetable remedies, extracted by chemical
process in a state of purity, and combined together
in such a manner as to insure the best results. Thia
system of composition for medicines has been found
in the Cherry Pectoral and Pills both, to produce a
more efficient remedy than had hitherto been ob
tained by any process. The reason is perfectly ob
vious. While try the old mode of composition, ev
ery medicine is burdened with more or less of acri
monious and injurious qualities, by this each indi
vidual virtue only that is desired for the curative
effect is present All the inert and obnoxious qual
ities of each substance employed are left behind, the
curative virtues only being retained. Hence it is
self-evident the effects should prove as they have
proved more purely remedial, and the Pills a surer,
more powerful antidote to disease than any other
medicine known to the world.
As it is frequently expedient that my medicine
should be taken under the counsel of an attending
Physician, and as he could not properly judge of a
remedy without knowing its composition. I have
supplied the accurate Formulas by which both my
Pectoral and Pills are made to the whole body of
Practitionersm the United States and British Amer
ican Provinces. If however there should be any
one who has not received them, they will be .
promptly forwarded by mail te his address.
Of all the Patent Medicines that are offered, how.
few would be taken if their composition was known !
Their life consists in their mystery. I have no
mysteries.
The composition of my preparation is bud open
to all men, and all who are competent to judge on
the subject freely acknowledge their convictions
of their intrinsic merits. The Cherry Pectoral waa
pronounced by scientific men to be a wonderful
medicine before its effects were known. Many em
inent Physicians have declared the same thing of
my Pills, and even more confidently, and are will
ing to certify that their anticipation were more
than realised by their effects upon trial.
They operate by their powerful influence on the
interna viscera te purify the blood and stimulate it
into healthy action remove the obstructions of
the stomach, bowel, liver, and other organs of the
body, restoring their irregular action to health, and
by correcting, wherever they exist such derange
ments as are the first origin of disease.
Being sugar wrapped they are pleasant to take,
and being purely vegetable, an harm can arise from
their use in any quantity.
For minute directions, see wrapper on the Boa.

FOR THE CURE OF

WILMINGTON, N. C, Feb. 1, 1856.
MR. W. H. LiPPiTT. Dear Sir : Without any
suggestion or solicitation whatever oa yonr
part, l teare pleasure in adding my testimony to the
emcacy or your Specific for the cure of Dysentery
and kindred complaints. Having been for three
years afflicted with a disease of this character, and
employed the services of three of the best physi
cians in this place, with but slight advantage. I
was induced to try your medicine, and after follow
ing the prescriptions and taking several bottles,
am now perfecly restored. I believe your Specific
to be a most excellent and valuable medicine, and
feel no hesitation in recommending it to the pub
lic. 80 far from being a nostrum, as too many of
tbe popular medicines of the day are, I believe it
superior, tor tbe cure of tbe disease indicated a
bore, to any other medicine.
I am truly yours, Ac. M. BRYAN.
