One of the eases was that of negro child, some four or five months old, who was so emaciated by the effects of the disease, that its life was nearly despaired of, when my wife happened to think that she would) try the Cholera Medicine, aad did so with complete success in less than forty-eight hours. Descbittion or tbb Mblodbok, For the bene fit of those residing at a disunce, and eoasequent- ly unable to inspect the Alelodeon before purchas ing, we will endeavor to give a short description of the instrument. The cases are made of rose wood, ana axe as handsomely nnisned as any piano-forte. The key-board is precisly the same as the piano or organ, and the tone (which is very beautiful) closely resembles that of the flute stop of the organ the notes speak the instant the keys are touched, and will admit of the performance of as rapid passages as the piano. The pedal on the right supplies the wind, and works so easily that a child can manage it without any exertion. The bellows (which is something entirely new and for which a patent was granted in December, 1849,) ia a reversed or exhaustion bellows and it is this in a measure which produces the peculiar tone. The volume of tone is equal to that of a small organ, and by means of the swell may be increas ed or diminished at the pleasure of the performer: it is sufficiently loud for small churches, . and is well calculated for a parlor instrument. Hundreds have examined them, and all have been loud in their praise; and the best evidence of their merit is their rapid sale. But it is a new instrument a new invention and is yet but little known ia the musical world, and it is for this reason that we sail to it the attention of all lovers of music, believ ing that there are thousands who would lose no tune in scouring one, were they aware of the existence of such an instrument, and the low price at which it could be obtained. The following letter from Lowbix Masob, Bos ton, to G. P. Reed, we are permitted to use. Mr. Geo. P. Rbbd, No. 17 Tremont Row, Boston, Mass. Dbab Sib At your request, I have examined one of the Melodeons manufactured by Messrs. Geo. A. Prince & Co., of Buffalo. I think them in au respects equal and ia some respects supe rior to any others of similar kind which I have seen, and in particular with respect to quality of tone and promptness of touch, or action of the reeds by which quick passages may be performed with certain and distinct articulation of tone. An instrument of this kind is the best substitute for an organ, in church music, with which I am ac quainted. Lowxu Masob. PRICES. Iho celebrity Whioh our Mel odeons nave atiainea nas inaucea nearly every music dealer in tns united states and uanada to apply for the agency ; but as we make but one Agent in each city or town, many are necessarily disappointed. The result has been that our Name Plate has been put upon Melodeous which were not manufactured by ui ; and again, (in a few instances wchch have oome to our knowledge) dealers, who have been unable to obtain our instruments, have iacepted the agency of some other manufacturer1 keeping one of our inetrumentt which had purpotely been put out of tune; and in bad order, as a foil to the inferior article they' offered to the public. For these reasons we caution these who wish to satisfy themselves of the merits of our Melodeons to ex amine those only which are offered by our Agents or those who deal exclusively in our instruments. Raleigh, Mar. 22, 1863. 25 AYER'S KPLLLS, s vbw and singularly suecessnu lemeuy ior us H. cure of all BiUous dkeaaes Coativeness, Indi gestion, Jaundice, Dropsy, Rheumatism, Fevers, Gout, Humors, Nervousness, Irritability, Inflamma- , neanaene, rams m tne xweasx, oioe, saca. and Limbs, Female Complaints, 4o.,tc Indeed, very few are the diseases in which a Purgative Medi cine is not more or less required, aad much sick ness and suffering might be prevented, if a harm less but effectual Cathartio were more freely used. No persoa can fed well while a costive natat oi body prevails ; besides it soon generates serious and often fatal diseases, which might have been avoided by the timely and Judicious use of a good purgative. Tak is alike true of Cold, PeverUh symptoms, and Bilious derangements. They all tend to became or produce theaeep seated and formidable distempers which load the hearses all over the land. Hence a reliable family physic is of the first importance to the pubae health, and this Pill has been perfected with consummate skill to meeSAhat demand. Aa extensive trial of its virtues by Physicians, Profes sors, and Patients, has shown results surpassing any tiling hitherto known of any medicine. Cures have been effected beyond behet; were they ;not sub stantiated by persons cf such exalted position aad character as to forbid the suspicion of untruth. Among the many eminent gentlemen who have testifiedia favor of these Pills, we may mention : Da. A. A. Hates, Analytical Chemist, of Boston, aad State Assayer of Massachusetts, whose high professional character is endorsed by the Hob. Edward Rvbbbtt, Senator of the 17. S. Robert C.WnrrKROr, Ex-Speaker of the Houss cf Representatives. Abbott Lawrence, Minister Plen. to England, f Joaw B. FlTZFATRlCR, Cath. Biahopof Boston. Also, Da. J. R. Cxlltox, Practical Chemist, of Vem York (Sty, endorsed by How. W. L. ICabct, Secretary of State. Wm. B. As tor, the richest man in America. 8. Lxxajtd A Co., Propr'a of the Metropolitan Hotel, and others. Did space permit, we could give many hundred certificates, from all parts where the PiUs have been used, but evidence even more convincing than the experience of eminent public men is found in their effects upon trial. These Pills, the result of long investigation and study, are offered to the public as the best and most complete which the present state of medical science can afford. Taey ars compounded not of the drags thaniselves, but of the Boadiciaal virtues only of Vegetable remedies, extracted by chemical process ia a state of purity, and combined together in such a wtw as to tnsure ths beat results. This system of composition for aaasieiaes has been found in the Cherry Pectoral aad Pule both, to produce a more efficient remedy than had hitherto; been ob ' taiaed by any process. The reason is perfectly ob vious. While by the old mods of composition, ev , ary nasdieme is Burdened with more or less of Acri monious and injurious qualities, by this each indi vidual virtue only that is desired for the curative fleet is present. All the inert and obnoxious qual ities of each substance employed are left behind, the curative values only being retained. Hence it is selevident the enecsB should prove as they have proved more Purely remedial, and the Pills a surer, more powerful antidote to disease than any other medicine known to ths world. As it is frequently expedient that my medicine should be taken ander ths counsel of an attending Physician, and as he eould not properly judge of a remedy without knowing its composition. I have supplied the accurate Formulas by which both my Pectoral and Pills are made to the whole body of Practitioners in the United States and British Amer ican Provinces. If however there should be any one who has not received them, they will be promptly forwarded by mail to his address. Of all ths Patent Medicines that are offered, how few would be taken If their composition was known 1 Their life consists in their mystery. I have no mysteries. The composition of my preparations is lsid open to all men, and all who are competent to judge on the subject freely acknowledge their convictions of their in triasis merits. The Cherry Pectoral was pronouneed by adentifie BaSla to he a wonderful medicine before its effects were known. Many em inent Physicians nave declared the same tiling of my Pills, aad even more confidently, and are will ing to certify that their anticipations were more than realised by their effects upon trial. They operate by their powerful influence on the internal viscera to purify the blood and stimulate it Into healthy action remove the obstructions of the stomach, bowels, liver, sad ether organs of the body, restoring their irregular action to health, and by correcting, wherever they exist, such derange ments as are the first origin of disease. Being sugar wrapped they are pleasant to take, and bemg purely vegetable, no harm ean arise from their use in any quantity. For minute directions, see wrapper on the Box. PREPARED BY TAMES 0.
