The Orpit Thermal Watering Place ef ihe Ameri- .can Continent. . Nature's Remedy for Chronic Diseases'. THE Hetel at this place will be open for the recepE'r..i 1 tion of visitors on the first of June next tin- the J number of its MINERAL SPRINGS, the - variety ft tneir temperatures and their extraordinary remeeuaj, powers in many of the most serious, painful and dan. gerous CHRONIC DISEASES, that afflict-the huinaiC race, ibis watering plaoa offers to INVALIDS suffer ing from the maladies in which THERMAL WATERS are indicated means, for the recovery of health which ean be found at no other in the United States. -Number of the Baths Diseases in which they are indicated Effects of the Waters taken internally, or used as a General Bath.' The supply of Mineral Water is most abundant, and tares, from 78 to 108 Fahrenheit: In all acnte dineate, the hot baths contra-indicated, but in tbecArotttc form of Rheumatism Gout, Neuralgia, . Paralysis, free from inflammatory action. Diseases of the Liver, Chronic Diarrhoea, Old Injuries to the Muscles, Joints and Tendons. Spinal Irritation , and Some Diseases Pecnliar to Females, the remedial properties of the waters of the VIRGINIA HOT SPRINGS are ut-rivalled. Their ALTERA TIVE AND CURATIVE POWERS are unsurpassed by those of any other Mineral Water on the face of the globe. Many persons afflicted with the diseases enumerat ed above, in forms which had resisted the most skill- 4 ful .medical treatment, and had rendered the lives of the sufferers alike wretched and useless'through long years of pain, have been restored to perfect health by their use. And in many of these cases not only medi cal science, but other Mineral Springs of the highest reputation had failed to afford relief. Of the vast number now suffering with such mala dies, there are few, indeed, who would not be either cur ed or greatly relieved by these waters. When drank, they are anti-acid, mildly aperient and freely diuretic and diaphoretic. Ued as a general bath, they equalize an unbalanced circulation ; and restore to the different important organs of' the system, chett torpid, that nat ural and healthy sensibility without which they cannot perform their respective functions, and the beneficial ac tion of all remedies teill be diminished or destroyed.. They act powerfully upon the Liver, Kidneys and Skin ; relax contracted tendons and rigid muscles ; rouse up suppressed secretions ; excite the action of the absorbent vessels ; exert a salutary influence over the uterine system, and often relieve, in a shert time, excruciating pain, caused by serious and long-standing disease. Diseases of the South. In no clss of human maladies have these waters been more eminently successful than in those which prevail in the SOUTHERN and SOUTH-WESTERN STATES. " In that state of the body termed CACHECTIC, the consequence of derangement of the Stomach, Liver and Spleen, among the residents of marshy countries, and distinguished by a pale or sallow complexion, puffy skin, swelled extremities, Ac," the baths here often act like a charm. In obstinate TORPOR OF THE LIVER and in the enlarged condition of the LIVER and SPLEEN, which so frequently follows the bilious fevers of the South, their great value is unauestronahle. In many cases, where the Secretion- of Healthy'Bile had been almost totally suppressed for years, a course of these waters has fully restored it. And id many other cases, .where the Liver was not only torpid and engorged, but ENLARGED, its normal condition has been brought back, the engorgement and enlargement to perfect health here. In Chronic Diarrhoea, depending, as that dis ease generally does, upon a deranged and imperfect ac tion of the Liver and Skin, the powerful influence whicb these waters exert upon a both these important organs makes, them a remedial agent of unequalled power. Enlargement of the Prostate Gland. Cases of this disease have been thoroughly cured at the Hot Springs the powerful excitant action of the watersupon the absorbent vessels enabling tbem some times ta cure enlargements of this gland, as well as those of the Liver and Splceu. Diseases Peculiar to Females. The suppression or painful performance of Periodi cal Functions Peculiar to Females isfrequentlyreliev ed by the use of the waters here. Pleasure Baths, Besides the Hot Baths for Invalids, there are two exhilarating and delightful Pleasure Baths, for persons in good health. Location, Climate, &c, ol the Springs. This place is distant only twenty miles from the Millboro' Depot of the Virginia Central Railroad, and except that short- distance, has an unbroken railroad connection with the principal cities of the United States. The Springs are rituated in one of the narrow val leys with which the mountains abound. The scenery around is wild, romantic and heautiful, and the climate in summer delightful, aalubri-us and invigo- ratmg. The Hotel Accommodations arcexcel'ent, and Good Music will be in attendance early in the season. A Skillful Physician resides at the place during the sum mer months. Route. By Railroad from the principal cities in the United States to the Millboro' Depot of the Virginia Cenbial Railroad ; thence by stage coaches twenty miles, over a well-graded turnpike, to the Springs. Passengers leaving Baltimore, Md., or Richmond and Lynchburg, Va., in the morning, can come through to this place the same day to supper, or pass the night at the Warm Springs, and arrive here to breakfast next morning. 3f The Hot Springs Pamphlet, containing a full account of the Springs, with the opinions of Phy sicians, in regard to the waters, certificates of cures, Ac, will be sent free of charge to any address, on application to the subscriber, S.
