SPRINGS. HOT SPRINGS, VIRGINIA, The Great Thermal Watering Place of the Ameri can Continent. Nature's Remedy for Chronic Diseases. THE Hotel at this place will be open for the recep tion of visitors on the first ef June next In the number of ite MINERAL SPRINGS, the variety of their temperatures and their extraordinary remedial powers in many of the most serious, painful aad dan gerous CHRONIC DISEASES that afflict the human race, this watering place offers to INVALIDS suffer ing from the maladies in which THERMAL WATERS are indicated means, for the recovery of health 'which can be found at no other in the United States. l Number of the Baths Diseases in' which they are indicated Effects of the'Waters taken internally, or used as a General Bath. The supply of Mineral Water is most abundant, and there are TEN BATHS constantly supplied with fresh water from separate springs of various tempera, tares, from 78 to 106 Fahrenheit la all oases of acute iiseate, the hot bath are contra-indicated, but in the chrome form of Rheumatism ' Gout, ' Neuralgia, Diseases of the Liver, Chronic Diarrhoea, Old Injuries to the Paralysis, free from inflammatery action. Spinal Irritation, Muscles, Joints and Tendons. and Some Diseases Peculiar to Females, the remedial properties of the waters of the VIRGINIA HOT SPKIJNG3 are ULrivalled. Their ALTERA TIVE AND CURATIVE POWERS are unsurpassed by those of any other Mineral Water on the face of the globe Many persons afflicted with the diseases enumerat ed above, in forms which had resisted the most skill ful medical treatment, and had rendered the lives of . . sr 1 -, . . v j . 1 .1 u 1 ine sunererB sum wreircnea aua useiaiwturvuit ivag years ef pain, have been restored te perfect health by their use. And in many of these cases not only medi cal science but other Mineral Springs of the highest reputation had failed to afford relief. Of the vast number now suffering with such mala dies, there are few. indeed, who would not be'either cur ed or zreatly relieved by these waters. When drank, they are anti-acid, mildly aperient,-and freely diurecio and diaphoretic. Ved a m general bath, they equalize an unbalanced circulation ; and rtttore to the different mnortant organ of the utem, when torpid, that nat ural and healthu feasibility without which thev cannot perform their respective function, and the beneficial ac . j - Hon of all remedie will be diminwhed or destroyed. They act powerfully upon the Liver, Kidneys and fekin ; relax contracted - tendons and rigid muscles ; rouse up suppressed secretions ; excite the action ef the absorbent vessels ; exert a salutary influence over the uterine system, and often relieve, in a short time, excruciating pain, caused by serious and long-standing disease Diseases of the South. In no cUss of human maladies have these waters been more eminently successful than in those which prevail in the SOUTHERN and SOUTH-WESTERN STATES. "In that state of the body termed CACHECTIC, the consequence of derangement of the Stomach, Liver and Spleen, among the residents of marshy countries, and distinguished by a pale or sallow complexion, puffy akin, swelled extremities, Ac," the baths here often act like a charm. In obstinate TORPOR OF 1 HE LIVER and in the enlarged condition of the LIVER and SPLEEN, which so frequently follows the bilious fevers of the South, their great value is unquestionable In many oaies, where the Secretion of Healthy Bile had been almost totally suppressed for years, a course of these waters has fully restored it And in many other cases, where the Liver was not only torpid and engorged, ut ENLARGED, its normal condition has been brought back, the engorgement and enlargement have disappeared, and the sufferers have been restored to perfect health here. In Chronic Viarrneea, depending, as that ais ease generally does, upon a deranged and imperfect ac tion of the Liver and Skin, the powerful influence which these waters exert upon a both these important organs makes them a remedial agent of unequalled power. Enlargement of the Prostate Gland. Cases of this disease hare been thoroughly cured at the Hot Springs the powerful excitant action of the waters upon the absorbent vessels enabling them some. times to cure enlargements of this gland, as well as those of the Liver aad Spleeu. Diseases Peculiar to Females. The suppression or painful performance of Period! cal Functions Peculiar to Females is frequently reliev ed by the use of the waters here. Pleasure Baths. Besides the Hot Baths for Invalids, there are two exhilarating and delightful Pleasure Baths, for person s in good health. Location, Climate, &c, of the Springs. This place is distant only twenty miles -from the Millboro' Depot of the Virginia Central Railroad, and except that short distance, has an unbroken railroad connection with the principal cities of the United States. The Springs are rituated in one of the narrow val leys with whioh the mountains abound. The scenery around is wild, romantic and beautiful, and the climate in summer delightful, salubrious and invigo rating. The Hotel Accommodations are excellent, and Good Music will be in attendance early in the season. A Skillful Physician resides at the place during the sum mer months. Route.
