Hans out your Banners and throw up your Hats
for the jUNION now, fellow-eitisens. The
, way to preserve the Union and keep
peace at home is
TO DEAIj WITH FRANKLIN.
Talk about dissolving the Union it can't be done
without the voice of the masses, the only true friends
to the South and the Union ; and when the day of
trial comes we will be found defending every inch of
the South at the point of a ttick of candy.
But in the mean time, dont forget that FRANKLIN'S
is the place to buy
CHEAP GOODS FOR THE CASH.
Why be alarmed, friends ? The Union will not be
dissolved, for w are the working-men ; aad we are
the fighting men ; and wehave the power ; and we in
tend to preserve this Union in which we live, and
have our being.

THE AD VALOREM BANNER,
DAILY AND WEEKLY.
A SHORT TIME SINCE I ISSUED A PROS
PECTUS for a Weekly newspaper, to be called
the AD VALOREM BANNER, to be published
in the City of Raleigh N. C. The encouragement I
hare received, far exceeding my most sanguine hopes,
induces me to issue this prbspeetus, tbe object of whieh
is to inform the public that I will, on the 1st of Janu
ary, 1861, commence tbe publication of the BAN
NER, not only WEEKLY, but also DAILY.
So far as the Banner takes sides with political par
ties, it will be Demoeratie ; but with regard to internal
Improvements, a change in our system ef Taxation,
and the preservation of a Constitutional Union, it will
know no party, but will be the sealous advocate ef all
these, repudiating secret caucuses, (where the spirit
of the Constitution is often violated,) packed aad par
tial Conventions, and the scheming of would be po
litical demagogues and tricksters. I shall be just and
fear not
