at low rates, without any charge, for forwarding, stor
age, Ac All such articles seat to Richmond, should
!e consigned and plainly marked " To the care of the
Freight Agent of the Richmond and Petersburg Rail
mad, at Petersburg," by whom they will be promptly
forwarded. As to rates of tolls on the roads south of
Petersburg (which they require to be prepaid as far as

The undersigned is appointed ani Agent for the re
ception of , subscriptions, of such portions of their
crops,' as the patriotic citizens of Nerth Carolina may
be able to invest in the bonds of the Confederate
States.
These bonds have twenty years to run, and bea
eight per eent interest, payable semi-annually.
Among the advsntages to tne country rrom tnis ar
rangement may be stated the following:
1st. It effers the best Investment in public securities,
either North or South.
2nd. It obviates any necessity that may arise for a
War Tax. . i
3rd. It will prove to Europe and the world, not only
our determination to support the Government of the
Confederate States, but our ability (to do so, to., to.

he has distributed subscription papers to nse every
exertion to get them filled as soon es possible and re

pledge ourselves to serve during the war wherever the

The main object of this organisation is to avenge
the death of General Robert S. Oarnett, of Virginia,
and Colonel Charles F. Fisher, of North Carolina.
Those who wish to form such a regiment, will sig
nify their assent by writing to . me at the above pott
oflioe and when we have 00 men we will report oar
elves for duty, and go on increasing the number until
it amounts to MOO. r,v,
The design is, that the number shall always be kept
np by new enlistments whenever vacancies occur by
deatn or inability, and no other cause shall release a
man from his obligation. I will act as private, or in
any capacity the regiment may direct When our
number reaches 600, we will request the President to
appoint a Colonel ef his ewe selection, and muster
ns into servioe at Richmond I will advertise the time
of meeting there as soon as I receive the name of 500
men. Each company wiH choose its own Captain and
subordinate officers.
