A GOOD WORK IN THE ARMY. 1 . .rii. vr il t t: ti . 1 . teria writes from Aquia Creek : We are happy to say that we have bad a glori ous little revival in our camp. There has not been very great excitement among the men, -but there .has been considerable interest taken in re gard to their soul's salvation. There is on regular chaplain for this Regiment, and feeling it our duty x do all wo could to win souls for God, we commenced havingprayer meet ings, which proved beneficial to all of us. Broth- .ej 7. A. Graham, of the Methodist Church, Kellyban, of the Baptist Church, and myself, commenced the meetings two or three weeks ago, and continued every night thai would admit of it, antil rery recently, haviug to move to other sta tions 9a the Potomac. There were a goodly number that professed re ligion daring the meeting; eleven have expressed a desire to become members of the church. Seven have offered their names to me, for the Methodist Church, and four to brother Kellyhnn, of the Baptist Church. We never witnessed such a scene in all our lives; although we arein the army, standing in defence of our country, andlezposed la aaagswa, wre teal that the Spirit of God has been with us, and that we have the prayers of all the Christians of the Southern Confederacy. We sometimes feel more as if ws were in a camp meeting than in the army, expecting to meet an enemy. - WARLIKE INVENTIONS-A ROTARY FORT. There is in the Navy Department here the model of a floating fort, of a very peculiar descrip tion, the invention of Msjor Root. Gamble, a citizen, we believe, of South Carolina. The com bination of its parts develops at once its looomoti on and projectile powers. It is claimed for the inven tion that, though a construction of light draft that might easily be adapted to the waters, on the coast of Carolina, Georgia and Florida, (and thus made collateral means ot harbour and sea coast defence,) it is -capable of carrying guns of the heaviest nafctal, and accoarodating easily a garri son of three hundred men. Tbe peculiar feature of this for, which distinguishes it from the float ing batteries at present in use, is, that, when in action, H revoim on- its centre, thus bringing .each gnn in rapid succession to bear upon . tlra enemy. . The invention has not yet been - tested by actual experiment on the part of the . Depart ment ; but if it&lfills iU ingenious design, , there eaa be no doubt of its adoption, by the Govern -jnent.- The preliminary report of a"Ooard of offi cers upoa it has, we believe, been ,. fa vourable. The effect, however, of the tides Boon, its locomo tion seem? to be problematical. Richmond Ex- t "A CHARMED LIPE. The N.- O-. Delta relates the subjoined incidents in the fire of. General Wm. H. T. In one of the battles, in Florida, he was Hterafly riddled with rifle balls. Thwe or four months after, bw left the City of Mexico a ghast ly spectacle, and was conveyed to Vera Cruz on a litter,-unable to bear any other "mode of convey ance.
