They are a footain of health to all man kind, and may be justly said to give the beauty and vigor of youth to the weakness and decreptitude of age. Can it be believed that after being before the public for ninety-one years, their sale should only uow be a little rising a million of boxes per year? But so it is, and it is only to be attributed to fatal pre judice, or their sale would be at least twenty mil lions of boxes per year instead of only one million. Let all the sick use them they will soon be among (he healthy ; let all who would secure themselves from sickness have them by them, in case of a sud den attack ; lor a few doses taken when the body commences to get out of order, and the benefit is secured at once. BRASDRFrn: By Dear Sir : Wc, the undersigned, being fully couviuced of the superior quality of your Vegetable Universal Pills over all others as a Cathartic Medi cine, which opinion is founded on our own personal experience having used them for .years as a family medicine. We therefore take pleasure in thus re commending them as specially excellent in prevent ing aud curing those bilious difficulties to which al most every individual is, at certain periods of the year, more or less subject. In all dyspeptic cases in which we have seen them used, they have affected a perfect cure. The method of using them was to lake one or two every night when goiug to bed. Who ever that is dyspeptic, and follows this advice, will be sure of a cure, so we believe, as we have never known them to fail. REMARKABLE CURE OF PILES Thirty Years Stadi?to!! Moux r Washington, Berkshire Co. , Mass. ? Nov. 29ih, 1847. $ Messrs. Wyatt Sc. Ketcham : Gents For 30 years I have been afflicted with Piles, general Debil ity, and Inflammation, causing tumors and prolapsus of the bowels, and which had resisted all the medical treatment Dr. Chapman and others could give. The last three years of that time my sufferings defy de scription. 1 was conbned to bed unable to help my self, and at last given up by my physician and friends in despair of ever gaining my health; in fact, for a lime before I commenced using Dr. Upham s Elec tuary, I was entirely speechless, and my burial clothes were made. But under the beneficent mercies of Providence, and the use of Dr. Upham's Electuary, though an old ma, I have the pleasure of stating the fact to the public that my health is now good, and I hope to live many years, if it is God's will, to make known the virtues of Dr. Upham's Electuary, and to recommend it lo my afflicted fellow creatures. It helped me beyond the expectations of all who knew my case, and I can only say to others, that it is, in my opinion, the best medicine in the world for Piles, or any other disease of the bowels ; and if they will use it according to the directions, I will myself warrant a cure, in every case. Yours, wilh the utmost expression of thankfulness, CORNELIUS SPUR. EaitiMosT, Berk Co. Mass., Nov. 29, 1847. THE success which has attended HASTINGS' NAPHTHA SYRUP, n Decline, Consump tion Spitting of Bhod, Asthma c, since its introduc tion into the United States, folly eq ials what it met with in Europe. Its use has been adopted in nearly alt our large hospitals ; and the most eminent of our physicians have wriiten highly favorable notices of it, and patronise it extensively in their private practice. Indeed, they have almost abandoned all other reme dies for the usual diseases of the lungs; and a single case has not yet beea reported in which it has failed to give satisfaction and relief. 11 the reader is at all inclined to Consumption, or affected with any of the diseases which are likely to produce it, let him loe no t me in procuring a bottle of HASTINGS' NA PHTHA SYRUP, and one or two doses will satisfy him of its surprising virtues, and that a short contin uance of its use will restore him to health ; for it not only cures in a brief period, but gives relief, and a warrant of its excellence, and mastery over the dis ease, in a few minutes after it is received into the system. Hence Sir James Clarke, the Court physi cian, remarks of it, that " in cousequence of the brisk aud unmiEtakeable energy of its operations, no medicine has so much the confidence of palieuts as Hastings' Compound Syrup of Naphtha." lit confirmation of the above, we annex the folliviug certificates, selected from a large aura-, ber now in the office of the American agent.
