UNITED STATES MARSHALL'S OFFICE, New York, Dee. 26, 1847. Messrs Vyatt und Ketcham : Gentlemen Un derstanding that you are the General Agents for the sale of Dr. Upham's Vegetable Electuary, for the cure of the Piles, I have deemed It my duty to vol unteera recommendation in behalf of that invaluable medicine. 1 have been afflicted for many years with the Piles, and have tried various remedies, but with no beneficial eflects. Indeed, I began to consider my case hopeless. But, about the first of September last, I was prevailed upon by a mend to make a tri al of the above named medicine ; I took his advice, and rejoice to say that I am not only relieved, but as I believe, perfectly cured. I moat earnestly recom mend it to all who may have the misfortune to be af flicted with that annoying and dangerous disease. Very respectfully. Your ob't servant, ELY MOORE. REMARKABLE CURE OF PILES Thibtt Yeabs Stahdiss ! ! Mocxt Wasbimotoit, Berkshire Co., Mass. Nov. 29th, 1847. 5 Mtssas. Wtatt & Ketcham : Gents For 30 years I hsve been afflicted with Piles, general Debil ity, and Inflammation, causing tumors and prolapsus of the bowels, and which had resisted all the medical treatment Dr. Chapman and others could give. The last three years of that time my sufferings defy de scription. 1 was confined to bed unable to help my self, and at last given up by my physicians aad friends in despsir of ever gaining my health; in fact, for a time before I commenced using Dr. Upham's Elec tuary, I was entirely speechless, and my burial clothes were made. But under the beneficent mercies of Providence, and the use of Dr. Upham's Electuary, though an old maw, I have the pleasure of staling the fact to the public that my health is now good, and I hope to live many years, if it is God's will, to make known the virtues of Dr. Upham's Electuary, and to recommend it to my afflicted fellow creatures. It helped me beyond the expeclationa of all who knew my case, and I can only say to others, that it is. in my opinion, tne best medicine in the world lor Piles, or any other disease of the bowels ; and if they will use it according to the directions, I will myself warrant a core, in every case. Yours, with the almost expression of thankfulness, CORNELIUS 8PUR. Eokamost, Berk Co. Mats., Nov. 29, 1847. Consumv twn, bputvig oj jsiooa, Asmma $;., since its introduc tion into the United Mates, fully eqials what it met with in Europe. Its use has been adopted in nearly all our large hospitals ; and the most eminent of our physicians have wrnten highly favorable notices of it, and patron u-e it extensively iu their private practice. Indeed, they have almost abandoned all other renie dies for the usual diseases of the lungs; and a single case has not yet been reported in which it has failed to give satisfaction and relief. If the reader is at all iuclined to Consumption, or affected with any of the diseases which are likely to produce it, let bun lose no time in procuring a bottle of HASTINGS' NA PHTHA SYRUP, and one or two doses will satisfy him of its surprising virtues, and that a short contin uance of its use will restore him to health ; for it cot only cures in a brief period, but gives relief, and a warraut of its excellence, and mastery over the dis ease, in a few minutes after it is received into the system. Hence Sir James Clarke, the Court physi cian, remarks of it, that 14 in consequence of the brisk and unmistakeable energy of its operations, no medicine has so much the confidence of patients as Hastings' Compound Syrup of Naphtha." in confirmation of the above, we annex the follwing certificates, selected from a large num ber now in the office of the American agent. The day after the Examination, the following pa per was banded to me by some friends, with the re quest that I would give it publicity : The undersigned having been in attendance on an Examination of the Pupils ef the Warrenton Fe male Seminary, an Institution under the superinten dence and direction of the Hon, Daniel Turner, take great pleasure in testifying to the more than ordina ry proficiency of the Pupils in the- vaiious branches of Female Education. The Examination was a ve ry thorough one, aud comprises the extensive course of study as set forth in the published Prospectus uf the Academy. And the undersigned were pleased to observe, that whilst the lighter accomplishments had received a full share of attention, as exhibited in an interesting display of vocal and Instrumental Music, and in beautiful specimens ot Drawing, Paint ing and Embroidery that the more solid and prac tical Branches, especially those of Arithmetic, Alge bra, Geometry, Geography, Astronomy, aad Histo ry had been made prominent. The Examination in those branches, reflected high credit, both on Teachers and Pupils j and in saying that, they would by no means omit to elate, that the same pro ficiency, that evidence of the 6ame thorough teach ing, was exhibited in the examination on the various other branches comprised in the course of study. And they believe tbey but feebly express the feelings and sentiments of the large and intelligent Auditory present on the occasion, when they say that they were never before present at an Examination, more thorough and more satisfactory. Mr. Turner, himself, a Graduate of the United States Militaiy Academy, at West Point, is s Teach er in the School, and is assisted by the best Instruc tors. The undersigned, therefore, take great pleas ure in recommending the School to public patron age, well satisfied that in the high character of the excellent Principal of the Institution, no Parent need desire a surer guarantee that a child commit ted to such care will receive every mark of kindness and attention.
