To Revolutionary Claimants,
1T7IOR several years pat, many inquiries and
IP searcbei bsve been made, and without success,
lor the official proofs of the erode and services of
the Officers in the North Carolina line, in the .War
of the Revolution : and for the want of such proofs,
the claimants for those services have been unable to
establish and obtain pay for the same.
This is to inform those interested, that the sab-
s:rtber has turned his attention to a laborious
x animation of thousands of old papers and records
in the Capitol, and after much time and labor spent
in the search, has found among Lies long aince
deemed useless, the Records in question, where
they had been misplaced and supposed to be lost-
shewing the official proof of the grades of thousands
of such officers ; such as Colonels, Lieutenant-Col
onels Captains, Lieutenants and Ensigns.

DESCRIPTION.
Said WaUnn is about thirty or thirty five years of
age, about five feet ten inches high, Tery slender
built, a little stooped forward when walking orjridiug,
light sandy colored hair, red beard, a rather down
look, not apt to look you in the face wben in conver-
nation, and frequent snapping or winking of the eyes,
his voice rather small, and somewhat attended with
a whining tone. He baa scars of sores on his legs and
ancles and shin bones. He has a scar on one of his
arms near the shoulder, occasioned by the stab of a
knife.

This Company has received the most liberal char
ter that has ever been granted to any Company
of a similar character, in any State iu the Union.
The 5th Section of the Act of Incorporation pro
vides "that the husband may insure hia owu life, for
the sole use and benefit of his wife or children,
aud, iu case of the death of the husband, the amouut
thus subscribed sluill be paid over to the wife or
children, or their guardian, if underage, for her or
their own use, free from all the claims of the rep
resentatives of the husband, or auy of hU creditors."
This provision needs no comment.
The Board have also determined to insure the
lives of slaves, and this being almost half the wealth
of the people of this Slate, a large business is reason
ably anticipated.

Company will be furnished by the Secretary, or any

THE Subscriber wishing to carry his Negroes to
the South, offers fbr sale the following valuable
Tracts of Land, viz :
One tract containing 1C50 Acre,
and sii taled 9 miles west of Suulbfieid. There i a
large and convenient Dwelling house, on ihis laud,
with all necessary out-houses. It is exceileul farm
ing land for this country, and there is euough of il in
cultivation to produce six or seven hundred barrels
of corn. There is, also, a Crist aud Saw-mill on the
tract. The plantation is well watered aud one third
of the laud iu cultivation is low-greuud. There-are,
also, about thirty thousand turpentine boxes cut.
ALSO,
Another Tract, lying twelve miles below Smith
field, immediately ou the river, coutaiuiug 440 Acrks.
This is excellent farming land, and as good range
for stock as any iu the Slate.
Those wishing to purchase such lauds, will please
call on the Subscriber, at his residence, 9 miles weal
of Smilh field, and he will take great pleasure iu
showing them and giving every -one an opportunity
