The common laws governing the domestic relatiois, such as those giving parents authority and co ntrol over their children, and guardians, control over their -wards, .are in force. Tbe parent's or guardian's authority and obli gations take the place of those of the firmer mus ter. II. The former masters Are constituted tber guardians of minors, and of the aged and infiim. in the abstnee of parents or other near relatives capable of supporting them. , . j: I i III. Young men and women, under twenty-one years of age, remain under the control of their parents or g-uard'ans until ihey become ot, ge. thus aiding to support their parents, and younger brothers and sisters -; IV. Tbe former masters of freedmen-may not turn, away the young or the infirm, nor refuse to-ive them:fotd and . shelter ; nor may the able -bodied men. or women go away from their homes, or live in idlenesfl, and leave tbevr par enta, children, or young brothers and sisters to be sup poited by others. j i ' .
