Lacking in lead ership, the attack halted and the company suffered heavy casual ties from an intense mortar and artillery bombardment. Observing the situation, Col. Go forth advanced and assumed per sonal command of the company. While revitalizing the attack, he was wounded in the shoulder by shell fragments. Refusing imme diate evacuation, he remained with the forward elements of the unit until the assault gained im petus. Although wracked by pain, he went to the regimental com mand post, where he insisted on reporting in detail the situation and condition of his battalion be fore being evacuated. Cpl. Goforth's courage, tactful skill, and complete application to duty corrected a condition that might have caused serious losses, and are in keeping with the finest traditions of the military service. WAC MEDICAL QUOTAS ARE BEING MET CHARLOTTE — "For the first time in over a year we are meet ing our Wac medical technician quotas,” Lt Col. William Schillet ter, commanding officer of the Carolina district army recruiting station, said today. "It seems to me that for the first time since the war began the wo men of North and South Carolina are fully recognizing their respon sibility and are doing something about it,” he added. But although Col. Schilletter expressed gratification at the present response of those women who have joined the Wac as medi cal technicians he explained that the need for such women is still greater than at any time during the war. CASUALTIES RETURN Casualties are being returned to this country at the rate of 30,000 per month, he said, and literally thousands more women are need ed as medical technicians to meet the emergency. — MANY VISITORS AT FLINT HILL FLINT HILL—Mrs. W.
