Emanuel Shober, a trib ute to whose memory has just been read, our Almighty parent has taken from our midst , one not less endeared to us by the amiability of his disposition, by his plain and iinobtrusiv manners, and by his ardent and sincere de votion to the profession to which he belonged, Samuel feilliman, Esq., wio departed this life some short time pince in the .town; of Salisbury ; and while we are pay ing nought bya jpst tribute . to the memory of the one let us not forget that the many virtues of the other are equally worthy of commemoration. . Therefore resolved. That in the death of Samuel Sil Jiman, we lament? the loss of a friend who endeared him self to us by his amiable life, by his high and honorable deportment as a member of our profession, and by hisas- jsiduous attention to all the duties which devolved on him. Nothing certain is known of the intentions of the Mexican Government ; whether the further advance of the American Army would be stoutly resisted or j permitted Id advance into the country i unmolested. All or most of the Louisiana and Alaba ma Volunteers, had. reached New Orleans on their return from Matarrioras. Great indignation is manifested by them towards tlie Government for disbanding them be cause theiy would not con$ent to serve twelve mionths, after having enlisted for six.
