Editor Southerner: Is it not a lame cause that resorts to such specious pleading as that you used in effort to refute my protest against the so largely turning the county over to an un intelligent husbandry! I am not opposed to the crop or share sys tem, where there is fitness, but my protest is against universality, to the well nigh exclusion of a superintendence of those fitted for it. M. J. Battle. The Southerner employed nc specious pleading with Mr. Battle. He compared Edgecombe to Haiti^ and asserted that the boycott wag resorted to on the landowner if he lived on his farm. The Sfiuther ner denied this, and endeavored to show that t’ajvas wrong. When Mr. Battle writes of the unwisdom of ‘‘turning the county over to an unintelligent husband ry,” we are with him, bnt this hat not occurred in Edgecombe. Or a number of farms in the county for various reasons, this has' beer done. It was unfortunate, and at Mr. Battle says, unwise, but may hap it was the best those in charge, thought they could do. The landowner who turns hif farm over to an unintelligent, nor progressive tenantry, is damaging his own property, and decreasing his income. But^we do not know of aoy one who has done this from choice or that the evil is growing. Sour Stomach No appetite, loss of strength, narvooS* ness, headache, constipation, bad breath, general debility, sour risings, and catarrh of the stomach are all due to indigestion, Kodol relieve* Indigestion. Kodol for dyspepsia does not only relieve indigestion and dyspepsia, but this famous remedy helps all stomach troubles by cleansing, purllylng, sweetening and strengthening the mucous membranes lining the stomach.
