Landrum Home Burned J
J. H. Williams home in Landrum burned down this morn- 1
ing about 3:30. Origin unknown. Mr. and Mrs. Williams I
are in Columbus, Ga. visiting and no one was at home. j
Town watchman passed house at 3 o’clock and saw 1 no
fire, it is said. Messrs. Davenport and Earle were awaken
ed about 3:30 and rushed to the scene. The fire made such
headway that the volunteer firmen could ;iot save it. ,
Hogback In Receiver’s Hands
Spartanburg paper says that Paul C. Smith, president of the Car
olina Mts, Inc. has been appointed receiver by the court for the
Hogback property, at the request of bondholders of SIOO,OOO.
President Smith hopes the property will be bought in and a new
company formed. Sale will be he held soon.
