Dr. B. B. Bishop To Speak at
Columbus P t T. A. Tonight
The Columbus P. T. A. will meet tonight at 7:30 at the
Columbus school auditorium. Dr. B. B. Bishop of Tryon
will speak on the “Care of the Teeth”. There will also be
a short progaam given by one of the grades.
Prof. Cobh Kittanis Speaker
" Prof. E. W. S. Cobb, chairman of the Kiwanis Ed
ucational committee, held the club members spell bound
today at the noon luncheon when he delivered an address
on the ideals of Kiwanians and compared them with the great
men of the past. He told of the great advance in methods and
equipment of our schools and predicted greater things yet for
our civilization in educational and spiritual development; \
Largest Nugget From North Carolina
Speaking, before the Kiwanis dub a week ago, Mr. Thos. L. Elder,
stated that NorthCaroUna produced the largest gold Nugget. It was found
on the Reed plantation in Cabarrus county in 1799. It was 8 1-2 inches
long, a half inch thick, weighed 28 pounds and was worth $6,500. Mr.
Elder, is a historian and authority on rare coins and paper money. He
says he will be glad to inspect anyone’s collection.
Lgnn Baptists Reach 170
The highest mark yet attained by the Lynn Baptist Sunday
School was reached Sunday when 170 people turned out for
Sunday school. This is an increase of over a hundred within the
past few months. The average attendance had hem between 60 and
70.
